I have a friend who insists the market is rational. I think over time one can make that argument, but daily fluctuations often seem to be the result of emotional buying/selling.

Something like 70% of all trades are high-frequency trades made by computer algorithms. While one might argue that to be "rational", it is not based on the fundamental valuation of a company and is a significant contributor to market volatility.

As someone who spent too many hours learning about this in an academic setting, I believe your friend is correct.

The discrepancy is that the academic definition of a “rational market” is not one any normal person would use. The unpredictability is part of what makes it rational.

Stocks like RIVN, Baba, GME, Vinfast, etc.

Sounds like leap options expired from 2021 and someone is getting liquidated or starting to cover / closing their shorts.

The whole basket of short stocks will start to move up and their collateral all which took a hit today like FAANG stock will be sold off to cover the RIVN, TESLA, GME, BABA, etc. shorted stocks of the world.

Stop trying to bring logic into a manipulated market where synthetic positions are factored into the denominator for short interest.

Don't even get me started on internalizing trades, failing to deliver trades, market maker short exemptions.

The market is not as white or black as it seems.

RIVN will pop in about 2 - 3 years just like GME did today and the last couple weeks.

Its simple, they shorted, used puts to generate synthetic shares to flood the market and overwhelm demand, married all their puts to leap Calls and will cover their Rivian shorts closer to when R2 comes out in 2 years.

They send stock bashers out for couple year to mess with stock sentiment.

The best part is when Main Stream media trys to label stocks as meme stocks they are short on and can't quickly explain why they're getting margin called / liquidated causing the stock to go up 100% to the public.

Case in point GME today. They will label stocks where hard working people are trying to make a living and feed their family like Rivian and label them meme stocks.

They said Facebook was a meme stock when it was price around $100. Today at $400 they use it as collateral to short RIVN.


Here is a good example of how many times MSM has told you to forget Gamestop. They will do the same thing with Rivian.

Forget making 200% - 300% in 4 weeks and continue ignoring the next Tesla, the next Bitcoin, the next Apple, the next GameStop, the next ..........

Not flat. They have cycles every 90 days around quarterly earning

Shorts love to play with IV and sell calls around earnings just to smash it down and crush IV.

we will be channel bound between $10-$30. Real breakout will happen when all their swaps and leaps expire in couple years.

I don’t know about you but I’m happy with 200% return in 2 years.

I plan to take advantage of the dirt cheap share price close to book value shorts are offering us today and they might even offer better prices to us in the future

I plan to DCA over the next 2 years and then load up on short dated calls once the R2 is closer to launch.

I’m staying put right here and looking to double or triple my money in couple years.

I am hearing reports that huge new tariffs may be levied on imported EVs. The details could be announced as early as tomorrow.

This needs to happen on all imports if the goal is to revitalize the US automotive industry.

The tariffs levied on imported EVs from China mean next to nothing. The rumors have always been that Chinese manufacturers like BYD will build in Mexico and ship to the US from there.

Of course, Ford and GM also build many of their EVs in Mexico, which is why the tax credit states "North America" and not "United States of America."

I'll be stunned if they impose levies on Mexican-imported vehicles, but that's when you'll know they are truly serious about what they say.
