Fender Bender….?

Welp….The Green Goblin needs some plastic surgery. Someone decided to take off like a bat out of hell and smash into my parked R1S. Gotta admit, it held up pretty well considering it was attacked by an F-350 with a cannon ball for a hitch.

My concern is the gear guard captured none of it. Alarm, never triggered. Odd, right? Did I have something configured incorrectly? Doesn’t seem like it. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Anyway, getting it repaired via the assailants insurance. Was told it was probably going to be a 10k+ repair and a month long wait without my baby. ?

That really sucks… I went through something similar three months after buying my Model 3 when a work F-350 backed into it doing 4K in damage. The whole process was a nightmare from dealing with insurance to going to multiple body shops and then having to wait 2 months for repairs to start because the only Tesla approved body shop in my area was backed up. The cherry on top was when I sold the Tesla I had to sell it for a few grand less than market value due to the accident on its record even though it was very minor.

I hope you have an easier time than I did with the repair process.

if that is just the bumper, will be much less, my fender bender cost under 6K and had to replace my tailgate and bumper. Also I believe gear guard was designed to pick up people that is why it didnt pick up the fender bender

Do rivian service centers provide loaner vehicles?

No, and these repairs aren’t done at a service center. You have to go to a third party Rivian certified collision center.

So there’s damage to the bumper as well as the tailgate. Honestly, I’m going to try one other Rivian certified collision center because this guy seemed very sleazy. He started off the conversation by pointing at another R1S in his shop and said it’s RJ’s and that he trusted them to repair it. My first thought is why the hell would RJ come to Orlando to repair his car lol. Forget the fact that he probably has a fleet of Rivians to choose from rather than try and repair one.

Orlando sounds super shady.
Got rear ended with hardly any visible damage on bumper and cost $5300. Certified basically replaces anything they touch

These kinds of repairs are very costly, especially when going through insurance. I would estimate 5-10k (maybe not all for you) for this depending on the damage done behind what we see. Also that rear body panel may need to be replaced as well.

My first thought is why the hell would RJ come to Orlando to repair his car lol. Forget the fact that he probably has a fleet of Rivians to choose from rather than try and repair one.

RJ is from Rockledge and I am pretty sure some of his family still live there. Orlando is the closest service center to there. It's possible.
