Good morning

I know there are a lot of threads on this, but figured I would just post my specifics. My 21"s are close to needing replacement, and since my new job is significantly closer, I thought I would try a set of 20's.

1). I like a rugged look, but it doesn't have to be a totally agressive look. Just a hint of agressive is fine.

2). I would like to not sacrifice too much range, but a little is ok.

3). If possible, I would like to not add too much noise, as I feel my R1T is already a bit on the noisy side.

4). For the rubber, something with a bit longer life than my stock 21's would be nice.

5). For rims, I love the look of the BR voltaics, but the price is hard to stomach. So like a lot of others here, I think the M52's in all black look pretty sporty. But am VERY OPEN to suggestions.

6). Price is not everything, but would like to keep it manageable.

I know I ask the impossible, but any feedback and suggestions would be appreciated. I will likely replace all 5 including the spare.

Best

Atomic Wheels has some Rivian options that are a bit cheaper than the Black Rhino Voltaics. If you're not in a rush, they seem to do sales around holidays (typically 10% off). They're fully-forged, and the bolt pattern/size matches that of the stock wheels so they're easy to swap on. I like my AW10s.

For tires, have you seen this sheet? You can sort and filter the options to get the ones you like. Since you currently have the OEM 21"s, getting 275/60R20-sized 20" tires will give you the same diameter, so you won't have to do any recalibration.

Not impossible. MSW Type 52s with the new Rivian specific Goodyear Wrangler Territory ATs in 275/60R20 sound right up your alley, that's what I would get if I was starting from scratch today, about $2400 all in. Or Yokohama Geolander CV 4S, about the same price. Both are All Weather with "aggressive look" and 3PMSF for legally driving winter passes.

What wheel/tire combo did you have before? What were your previous efficiency numbers? Keep us posted on your experience and efficiency as time goes on!
I'm the second owner of the truck. Quad Motor R1T - obviously, I guess. Anyway, stock wheels were 21's and although the truck had 14k on the clock at the time of purchase, the Pirelli tires were toast. I wasn't willing to held hostage by a single tire model and supplier. When it was announce that Rivian was discontinuing 21" wheels, in my opinion, the writing was on the wall for future tire options.

Anyway, I had minimal experience with the 21's - only about a month of ownership. I can tell you that lifetime m/kwh was 2.18 prior to install a few weeks ago. We recently drove from Phoenix to Sand Diego and back - two adults, one dog, plenty of luggage and extreme heat - well above 100 degrees for much of driving both ways. Tire pressure was set to 51psi (max for these tires), we ran in conserve mode for all highway driving and all purpose for limited driving at charge stops, etc. I would say it was fairly windy on both legs as well. I used cruise control for most of the highway miles - 71-76 mph. Anyway, we averaged 1.88 m/kwh there and 1.89 on the way back. So, not stellar, but the ride is very good and road noise is very minimal. I'm very pleased on both fronts.

There's more to tell in regards to install, etc. and maybe I should make a stand-alone post about that.

Yikes, those are rough numbers. I'll blame the heat unless you have something else.

Please do!

Random question. If I am not in a rush, does Tire Rack ever have a sale to get a discount on the tires and wheels?

Sometimes, yes, but I doubt either of these will qualify. They're both very popular.

I thought they did ID.ME discount (military, first responder, etc) of 5-10% but now I'm not seeing it.

If you have time, keep eyes out here or other places for folks selling wheels too, you may get a good deal on the same wheels or something else you like.

Last advice: don't pay the overpriced $70/TPMS. Either get clonable sensors or the Amazon OEM ones. I have a SMART SENSOR programmer if you want to borrow, works with these types: https://a.co/d/eUBhHrC

sorry to keep asking questions... If I go with a set of Atomic Wheels, they say they are compatible with the OEM TPM's. Does that mean I can recycle the ones I already have and save a bit that way?

I am kind of like the AW 10's in satin black for my Rivian Blue R1T, or maybe the new AW 08's. What do you think of those?

Never apologize for questions! That's what this community is here for.

@Atomic Wheels what say you about TPMS?

AFA their wheels, everyone has different taste. I'm partial to wide/flat/thick/basic wheels, I'm a steelies fan but those don't work in our rigs, so I went with the Ram 2363s.

No new TPMS are needed.

Thanks for sharing and your pics! Have a forest green R1T in Mesa and might twin with you on the wheel/tire combo soon
