There are computer skill here way above my paygrade. I would live to be able to check these stats while checking my PC over coffee in the mornings. I particularly like TheGranitecheif UI. Is there a turnkey download or can someone write up some instructions. Thanks
Yes, I'm no coder and set this up. You need to setup HomeAssistant with the integration and can use https://github.com/tmack8001/ha-rivian-card to get some nice cards into the UI.

Just a heads up for anyone using the HA integration.

Rivian has recently decided to limit API connections, which they previously left unrestricted. If you connect HA to your Rivian account be sure to create an additional driver and use that account for API access. There's no guarantee that they won't apply the restriction to the vehicle rather than the driver but as of right now we don't have any evidence of that.

If you experience "No Cloud Connection" in the app this is their way of letting you know that you're account is rate limited. Your phone app will not have full functionality if you're rate limited due to excessive API calls. PaaK will still work because it doesn't require cloud connectivity, but additional controls will be delayed until you're rate limit is lifted. This includes but is not limited to; charge settings, climate controls, ability to add new drivers, ability to create support tickets, control doors and locks, etc.

I have some elementary questions with implementing HomeAssistant.

  1. Can I install HomeAssist from the Apple App Store and run it from my iPad or iPhone?
  2. Is it secure? Any risks to be concerned about?
  3. If Rivian applies restrictions to my vehicle would it be difficult to get them lifted? I know this may be unknown, not sure if anyone has experienced this.

1. Not really. The companion app can be, but you need a server running Home Assistant.
2. Yes. Not really unless you try to open/forward ports.
3. Best to set up a dedicated user for HA.

Thanks. For #1 can it run on a MAC?

It is either a native os (HassOS) which can run bare metal or in a hypervisor, or a Docker/Kubernetes container/cluster.

But to be honest, it sounds like Home Assistant may be a bit beyond your skill set.

Sounds that way, not going to build a server for this but, thanks.

Technically you don't need an entirely new server. It could be a VM on your current machine or an old laptop. One of the most common is a Raspberry Pi.

I'm happy to help you out if you decide your into it.

I came back to this thread to ask if a Raspberry Pi would work. ? I have one that I used for a CarPlay solution for my Tesla that I no longer use.

Please let me know if you have any sources for this implementation. I will look into this.

I use it for location based garage door opening and closing. The actual opener in the truck is weaker than my remotes and won't work.

3. It’s highly unlikely Rivian would make any exceptions or manual intervention beyond whatever automatic rate limit rules they implemented. Why would they? Excessive API calls cost Rivian (or any other company) bandwidth and compute resources. That’s why they limit it.
