I was told by local service center that mobile service can change the tire size, but if you take it to a service center they can recalibrate the cameras for the difference in ride height. Mobile service can't do that.

Would the 0.5 inch change in ride height have an actual impact on the cameras? Doesn’t the suspension already operate over a much wider range? I think the calibration is more related to tire alignment and making sure the vehicle is properly calibrated left to right versus up/down…mobile tech made no mention about it needing calibration.

Why is everyone discussing wheel diameter changes in terms of Rim size? Can we not all just take a moment to figure out the diameter of our tires and discuss this properly. For example I run 295/65/20. so my wheels are 35.1" tall or 2.9% larger than stock. so at 102.9MPH my speedo will say 100MPH. I could have 15" or 24" rims but it the overall diameter of the tire or "wheel" (rim+tire) that matters.

Because people going from the 21" wheels to the 20" wheels are going to the 275/60/20 tires that match the stock 21" tire diameter while the stock tires are 275/65/20. The 275/60 tires will also fit the factory 20" wheels (obviously) and are slightly smaller, cheaper, lighter, and more widely available...so they tend to be more desirable.

Until now, the only way to have everything set up for the 275/60 tires on a R1 with the factory 20's would be to tell the truck/SUV that it has 21" wheels on it. Ditto for those coming from factory 21's.

I also had mobile service out last week and they programmed my new tire size since I swapped from the 21"s back to my 20" AT set. Still hoping we can do this ourselves soon. Happy I didn't have to travel 2 hours to the closest service center.
How much did they charge?

Say your going from both OEM 22’s to 20’s, if they where to recalibrate the tires, can they change how the rims actually look in the UI?

A strangely worded question, but I'll answer what I think I'm reading: yes, changing tire size changes the picture in vehicle UI to match the new setting, but not the phone app. E.g. I went from 20s to 21s in the UI despite having 275/60R20 wheels/tires actually on the truck, my UI shows 21s now but my phone app shows 20 staple wheels still.
