Can I ask what you paid? I'm quoted for $1725 out the door not including extra road hazard warranty.

Also, how do they ride? Do they take road imperfections well?
Price was similar to what you mentioned above. So far they are much quieter than stock Perellis. I did see driving in to work this am I was a tick higher on efficiency. Have not driven many miles yet to see if the efficiency will continue.

Could you send more full side view pics, specifically in high mode? No worries if not. Just twiddling my thumbs excitedly waiting for mine to arrive :)

Can’t give much update on range as I have not done any road trips yet and I’m sitting at about 1.95 at 200 miles. This is all short commute driving in my city. Have a road trip thanksgiving weekend so I’ll have more data at that point.

There is a hum/vibration that is very noticeable at 50mph. Will have tire shop check balance. Don’t know if it disappears at higher speeds yet. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm getting mine installed as we speak and will let you know. I saw a thread where the Toyo engineers mentioned something about noise at that speed, might just be their resonance zone. Supposedly quiet at all other speeds from what I recall. I'd also say to let them wear in a little bit. New tires behave a little differently for the first few hundred.

The noise goes away on highway above 70. Seems to peak at 55. Getting them rebalanced tomorrow. Let me know if you have the same noise/ vibration

I didn't get it above 60, but yeah there's a "noise" from low 50's to 60 at least. "Loudest" at ~55 like you said. I wouldn't call it loud by any definition of the word. I'd just say it's there if you have your music off and you're looking for it, compared to absolutely zero noise from the stock 21's. Not a bother to me whatsoever, as long as it doesn't get a lot louder, I'm fine with it.

I'll do some highway driving tomorrow. So far the ride is pretty good. I had 20" Blizzak's on there before that came with the second hand wheels I bought, those were smooth like the 21" pirelli's, the Toyo's are just a tiny bit noticeable, again, not bad at all. I'd say they're better than the 20" pirelli's I've driven. Likely they'll smooth out even more from brand new.

Very happy with the way they look and drive so far. More to come.

I currently have the 21" and looking for something more aggressive without a huge hit to noise and range. Do these fit the bill?

Hold on-An EV-specific tire has an audible hum at ~50-55 mph?

Wouldn’t that be step 1 in being an EV tire, no audible hum at any mph?

I’m not trying to bash this tire specifically, just trying to understand what might separate an EV tire from non-EV tire.

i certainly don’t expect an all terrain tire to not have a hum, all terrains tend to make sounds due to resonance related to grooves.

can someone please record 5-10 seconds of the hum?

Your questions here and other thread are unanswerable. Why? It’s all subjective. Aggressive/quiet compared to what? And to whom?

ATs by default produce more noise than ASs because of the tread block gaps. These interruptions in contact surface create sound (like driving over expansion joints over and over). They also affect rolling resistance/efficiency. Tire makers employ creative solutions to try to minimize* or cancel out** the sounds through tire construction and tread design. They formulate rubber compounds to find ideal balance between traction and rolling resistance—these are opposing attributes. Some ATs are louder than others. And some people are more sensitive to certain frequencies. For instance, I’ve owned BFG ATs before. And I don’t find the Scorpion ATs particularly loud (and the vehicles equipped with BFGs were ICE with aftermarket exhausts). Meanwhile some Rivian owners find the Scorpions unacceptably loud.

In short, you just can’t ask a generic question and expect a simple yes/no answer to be served on a silver platter. The topic is much nuanced. You just have to take the reviews and user feedback, weigh them and make your own decision. In general, highly unlikely to find a AT that is just as efficient and quiet as an AS of the same size.

*Foam insert is one example, intended to dampen resonance. Though I'm not aware of any ATs using this technique.
**Similar to how noise canceling headphones work... Example: Tread pattern on one part of the tire produces a certain frequency at a certain speed. Elsewhere on the tire, they employ a second pattern that produces the same or similar harmonic, but out of phase, to oppose and cancel out that of the first.

EV specific has more to do with range and wear characteristics. An AT tire will be noisier than a road tire pretty much always. I'm happy with the "noise" that they make, it's not distracting at all. If you want complete silence though, stick with a road tire.

I was in the same boat and just got these tires with the OEM 20's. So far I'm happy, but it's early... Will see after I've had more time with them and they wear in.

I purchased these about 1-2 weeks ago and mounted them on Black Rhino Voltaics. After about 1,000 miles....

Not impressed with the range/efficiency. I'm probably just over 2.0 mi/kw. I'm guessing a 10-20% reduction in range from the stock 21s. The noise/drone is much more noticeable than my KO2s, but not terrible.

Everything else seems great. I noticed a ride improvement and do feel a little more confidence with wet handling. The dry road handling is maybe a little worse but not bad. They look awesome on the Voltaics, and I'm eager to get them off road when I get the chance. ?

So you went from 33” tires of the 21” wheels to a 34” tire? Did you reprogram? Numbers can change once tires are broken in.
