Cybertruck sales appear to be down, way down.

Probably not a surprise to those of us casually tracking EVs and EV news/sales. Even with the CT receiving the $7500 tax credit, unless Tesla drastically lowers the price, its not looking good (even then I'm not sure it will increase sales significantly).

There are only so many people in a country of 345 million that will choose to drive a vehicle that looks like that, and has had it's fair share of issues to boot.

Maybe it's time for a Boat mode demo? It may help sales ahead of the coming spring boating season

Electrek is a joke these days. They spin things to get clicks.

Tesla delivered 23,640 "other vehicles" that include S, X and CT (including handful of Semi's). Tesla does not break out each model sales. The sale of S and X are down quite a bit due their design age so it would not surprise me to see if half of the 23,640 are CTs.

For the reference, Rivian delivered 10,018 units total in Q3 this year and 13,972 in Q4, 2023.

The point is the EVs above $80K are not selling much regardless of make.

The CT sales issues are not about price. My guess it is two things: Elon and the looks. Plenty of people have stated they don't want to be associated with him. Not to mention how many people think the CT looks like a dumpster on crappy wheels.

Many of my friends spontaneously criticize the Cybertruck's appearance. I don't think I've ever signaled them that this is OK with me. They just start that conversation all on their own as part of the "How do you like your Rivian?" discussion.

I'm glad we don't all think alike. I don't want to live in a world where everyone thinks as I do about everything....

I'm hoping the CT does well. I don't like the petty digs at its looks (why do people care so much about what someone else likes?), and if it fails, it's going to be SO much harder for anyone else, Tesla or otherwise, to stick their necks out for new and potentially game-changing ideas. Strong steel skin/structure, steer by wire, 48v electronics, rigid core high voltage wiring, etherloop comms. There's so much to admire under hood that it's a shame people love to hate on its design.

CT is more of a political statement than a practical alternative. When the politics cools or diverts so will the sales.
