It's called feedback (?)

Hopefully Rivian is smart enough to have their social media teams monitor these forums. If they aren't... well that is very foolish.

If you never give any feedback about your opinion then nothing will change. Companies are not mind readers.
My teenagers also give me a lot of…. feedback.

Are you required to use your trial membership immediately upon delivery, or can it be delayed? I understand it's for a year, is that correct? If it can be delayed, does the year start from the time the Trial is enabled?

Will there be different plans available, as not everyone will need a Membership that includes free charging, off-road assistance, and events?

In creating a 4G hotspot, how far does this reach from the vehicle, can it be on 24/7?

Does the Trial Membership come enabled with features, that will be disabled, or not work properly, should one choose not to continue with the membership? If so, what are they?

While using the Trial Membership, will there be any updates/features (after Trial starts) that will be disabled, if you choose not to subscribe once the Trial is over? If so, could you please list them?

Are you able to subscribe to a Membership for a certain period of time, then discontinue for financial reasons, only to subscribe again at a latter date, when you're in a better financial position? If so, do you lose the updates/functions you previously had?

Will OTA important updates continue, even without a Membership?
Above are questions I asked Customer Service. I didn't really get much information, other than the vehicle comes automatically installed with the Membership Trial. I'm okay if everything I've seen advertised and shown on videos are included as standard, but I wanted to know what benefits will be removed if you discontinue Membership.

Rivian calls everything benefits, which I wouldn't. I would label off-road assistance, battery recharge, and events as benefits. I would include adding drive modes, etc. as features. Improving performance as Updates.

I wanted to know what benefits/updates/features we'll lose by not continuing membership. It would be natural to assume you'll lose probably everything, but what? Could it possibly be the Conserve driving mode? Will adding more range only be considered, if you have a Membership, or will it be by free OTA update?

I don't understand why they announce a Membership, then not be able to answer questions. I had rather not know about the Membership.

Below is their reply:

Thank you for contacting Rivian Customer Service regarding our Rivian Membership. We were thrilled to announce the program last week and think it will be a way to bring us closer to the natural world and also to one another, helping us create more impact together.

Membership begins automatically when your Rivian is delivered, no additional steps or sign-up are required, and the trial will be complimentary for an extended period. Like any membership, if you opt-out or discontinue, you will lose the benefits of membership. If you choose to continue membership in the future, you will regain those benefits. Much more to come soon on Rivian Membership!

I don’t have the hotspot range at this time, but you will be able to turn it on and off through your display. You’ll be able to connect up to eight devices at a time when you are out on adventures or just away from home.

Look out for more information on the Rivian Membership and connectivity specifications shortly, and if you have any other questions, please be sure to let us know!

Better:

Rivian R1T R1S Official: RIVIAN MEMBERSHIP Announced [1 year free trial beginning at day of delivery] 5nw4ik

Seriously though, can we just get a bulleted list of what is included and how much it's going to cost?

Also, it's a service plan. Membership is belonging to a group. A service plan is literally defined as a, "contract to purchasers of products for an additional fee"

Hmmm...
"Please communicate better, even if all the details aren't complete!"
"Why are you releasing this info without the everything finalized and fully explained!!!"

Though crowd to play to.
The number one rule of communication is to convey messages in a clear and effective manner. This announcement was neither.

Is this the same membership that they've been talking about for Rivian's Autonomous Tech To Cost $10,000, Yearly Subscriptions $550?

Thanks for confirming! I guess it makes better news for them to leave out other items it includes other than autonomous driving!

The fact of the matter is that there is no official verification from Rivian, and these numbers are just speculation. That said, I think they will prove to be accurate.

One thought for speculation. They say 5500 on average for subscriptions per vehicle. I would speculate they won't get 100% take rate on the subscription so the cost would have to be higher than $550 annually to meet that average revenue target.

It's identified as "potential revenue." They certainly aren't expecting 100% adoption and the best way to ensure that is to raise prices on everybody once the pay model kicks in.

Rivian website no longer says 1 year membership is free. it now states "Once you get your vehicle, membership will be complimentary for an extended trial period. After that, you can opt into paid membership."

WTF. it thats true, that sucks they are going back on this. unless they are planning to honor what the previously said for previous pre-order holders. has anyone heard anything from folks who have gotten their R1Ts on this?

I don't take it as a reduction, I see this as a potential extension based on the lack of availability of some of the services...
