Second row seat belt assembly recall

Last night, I got a text message from Rivian service telling to schedule an appointment "to inspect the second row seat belt assembly" in my vehicle. The message went on to say that owners should "avoid having occupants seated in the driver and passenger side seats of the second row" until the seat belt assembiles have been inspected.

We're empty nesters, so this is a minor annoyance, though our two Welsh Springers, who will continue to occupy those seats until I can get to a SC may reasonably accuse me of being callous. For many others, and especially folks with kids, that is definitely not the case.

Does anyone have an idea of how widespread the recall is?

The only seatbelt recall that has been officially released is for EDVs as far as I can tell. Two car seats occupy both 2nd row places in my vehicle so if anyone has different information please share.

Update: Rivian Service just phoned me to schedule a date for the recall. They are going to do it via mobile service, so it's pretty painless. I asked the scheduler if there was any detail about the recall that he could share, and while he said he had very little information, he was able to tell me that it affected all model years but was limited to about 900 vehicles.

Interesting, thanks for the update! I’ll be curious to find out why it affects such a small number. I’d have guessed all R1s have the same seat belts. And even if T’s are different from S’s in second row, it’s still surprising that it’s not all T’s.

I had mine done during the mobile 7500 mile service. Just an inspection. I believe it may be just an improper torque issue, but because it is directly safey Rivian has to CYA.
