Looks like adding the efficiency percentage would be a feature update, but the data visualization is nice. Would also be useful to show the start / stop times of the trip. That looked like one grueling trip!
I think that's something @Rivian Roamer could easily implement :)

Efficiency percentage is a bit of a moving target, mostly because it's relative to your drive mode. I tend to only add things to Rivian Roamer when I feel like they're accurate enough that I trust them, whereas other platforms have added things for the sake of adding them, and sometimes they're not as accurate. With that said, I've added it to my backlog. Thank you.

To add more clarity to my above statement. Think about how you would measure efficiency % in a session where you go from sport to ap and back. You'd need to calculate it per period and aggregate from there. While possible, can get complicated and error-prone.

Doesn't mean it's impossible just requires careful implementation. :)

That's a good thought. IMO, the efficiency percentage would always be a measure of how the trucks' energy consumption compared to its EPA target efficiency. Sport or snow mode would just result in more energy consumption and lower the percentage. This way the only target is how many mi/kwh the truck needs to get to reach its EPA rated range.

For example, I think my truck's target would be 2.5 mi/kwh (355 rated range / 142kwh battery). A trip that averaged 2mi/kwh would give me an 80% efficiency score for that trip, maybe because I left it in sport mode, it was windy, or it was just really cold. I believe every truck has this benchmark efficiency somewhere or it could at least be calculated.

I know with ElectraFi I put in my truck's year, motor, battery, and wheel/tire configuration, but unfortunately they don't do anything useful with this info as it relates to efficiency. This was a big step back from TeslaFi.

@Rivian Roamer Does historical drive data "unlock" for visibility after subscribing? (I had meant to subscribe before a recent trip....and forgot) but would still be curious as to what it looked like.

Side note: anyone here want to share their RR referral code? I asked in a reddit form and got no responses, so will try here as well before signing up!

It does not, there is no way to retroactively pull this data from Rivian. I'll make sure to ge this added to the help section.

I'll wait to see if someone else wants to drop their referral in here first otherwise I'll give you one, :)

Yeah the issue is Rivian doesn't publish EPA for the other modes, so how do you measure against those? And the 100% number is a moving target.

Efficiency is a big thing I want to tackle after tagged locations and the lifetime map. There may be some ways to do it but the math isn't as straightforward as it might seem. Then there's the education and understanding component part of it. Everyone has a different idea of what efficient % might mean.

I guess I just don't care about the other modes and what kind of efficiency I'd get in them. Maybe I'm alone in that assessment, but probably not. As you mention, Rivian doesn't publish those stats anyway, so the standard range/efficiency is what they'd all be graded against, at least as granular as the wheels and tire configs go.

This comparison at least gives people some kind of reference point for how well they're doing. Rivian's own efficiency gauge is so misleading as it tells everyone they're doing "good" when the truck is getting over 2mi/kwh when in reality that might be 20-30% less than the EPA rated range.

Well, it's not even that simple. The current EPA for Gen 2 estimates are a blend, they aren't tied to a mode. The quoted range for a given wheel configuration for Gen 2 is halfway between Sport and Conserve.

Knowing that, where would you put 100% efficiency for AP on Gen 2?

Hmm, I am less familiar with gen2, but this is what Gemini came up with after a few tries. I asked it to give me the mi/kwh needed to get the EPA rated range in all available trims and wheel/tire combinations of a new R1T:

Trim & Battery PackWheel / Tire ComboEPA RangeTarget mi/kWh
Dual Standard (92.5 kWh)22" Range Wheels270 mi2.92
Dual Standard (92.5 kWh)20" All-Season258 mi2.79
Dual Standard (92.5 kWh)20" All-Terrain238 mi2.57
Dual Large (108.5 kWh)22" Range Wheels330 mi3.04
Dual Large (108.5 kWh)20" All-Terrain290 mi2.67
Dual Max (141.5 kWh)22" Range Wheels420 mi2.97
Dual Max (141.5 kWh)20" All-Terrain355 mi2.51
Tri Max (141.5 kWh)22" Range Wheels371 mi2.62
Tri Max (141.5 kWh)20" All-Terrain327 mi2.31
Quad Max (141.5 kWh)22" Range Wheels374 mi2.64
Quad Max (141.5 kWh)22" Ultra-Performance338 mi2.39
Quad Max (141.5 kWh)20" All-Terrain325 mi2.30

I think it still needs some fact checking, but I think it's good enough for conversation. I assume these ratings are in AP mode which is what the truck resets to each time it sleeps. A user could input their year/trim/battery/wheel+tire and the interface would set their target mi/kwh so they don't need to look it up. I wonder what Quads have in conserve vs. AP. I know less about those too.

I'm not sure what the typical RR subscriber is like, but if they're invested enough to see this kind of data on their truck, they probably don't mind figuring out what their exact target mi/kwh is, even if it requires a little education about the modes and what these ratings are based on. They could also have the option of changing it to their own value if they wanted to drive around in sport mode, or if they have their own towing benchmark to meet, etc.

As I said earlier, these are not tied to drive modes. my Tri Max at 100% reports 306 miles in AP.

Rather than trying to guess the better solution is to give people a baseline they can set.

EDIT: Found that @sk8nsanta had one listed after asking for one - but when I click the link it doesn't show that the referral is being used. Is there a code to put under the "Add Promotional Code" @Rivian Roamer ?

After having ElectraFi for a year, I want to try out RivianRoamer. Excited to port over my data from Electrafi - glad I found this post!

If someone has a referral code for RivianRoamer list it here and I'll use it. I'm also ok signing up without one!
