I love the concept. I wouldn't use it enough to justify the price for myself, but wishing you guys the best of luck.

It looks like a great trailer, and I hope to see some on the road soon.
Thank you! You can always use it as your home energy backup/energy storage system, or an ADU when you're not on the road!

Lots of nice design features for this RV. Can you estimate how long the engine would need to run to recharge the trailers batteries, either 0-100% or at least 10-80%?

Also, will there be any sort of dust shielding to keep the engine from total getting caked in dust on a gravel road? Looks like the air vent on the engine housing would allow a lot of dust to kick up in there?

Overall, nice job on the prototype design.
When towing, the onboard battery pack can recharge at up to 75 kW. When parked, it supports charging at up to 20 kW. With a 43 kWh pack, that means under an hour to fully recharge while driving, and roughly two hours when stationary.

I am very interested in the Evotrex. My wife is retiring in a year and we plan to roam North America looking for our retirement home. Really wish Evotrex would give us an idea of the tongue weight. We have no desire to get back into a 3/4 ton diesel.

Are you able to give us more info on how the battery can recharge at 75kw when towing? I assume this would be using full time regen to be possible.

Not that I could, or am planning on purchasing this trailer (was seeking out info out of curiosity), but my thinking on camping is to reduce the amount of gas being burned. I still explore ways to replace the gas burning stove in my trailer with induction so that I could just get rid of the propane tank in mine!

As a kid all the time we spent camping got pretty decently ruined by hearing gas generators running nearly all the time. Heck, it's still happening now even with the camping my wife and I do being at sites with power. Not sure why people still use generators when the campground they are at has 50 amps available to them...

Sorry, got into a little bit of a rant there!

@evotrex, the trailer overall looks quite nice - would be interesting to see if you guys have plans for something a little bit smaller (maybe in the 18-20 ft total length area...)
Totally agree with you. Generators at campsites are some of the worst noise pollution you can have. I too strive to reduce fuel use and I love that the R1T can power our camper. Another good solution to this problem is a svelte camper that doesn’t protrude much beyond the tow vehicle cross section. It sounds like that is the solution we have both taken :)

I was mostly commenting on the interesting systems engineering approach. I also suspect that the generator in their design will be quiet compared to the obnoxious RV generators we both despise. It can also probably do much of its work while you’re still on the road if reckon…

I am very interested in this camper. The generator is a great addition, because I would likely bring my own anyway and it would take up more space. A full, usable bath is also a must for me, so that looks great as well. I do wish it had room for a king bed, though. It is pretty important considering how restless I sleep.

The patio extension is awesome. It is probably my favorite feature. The one concern I have is how the interior is exposed when the patio is in use. On the East Coast, it is super humid and buggy in the summer, and I would want to use the patio without letting all the airconditioned air out of the camper. I don't see a way to access the patio without lifting the wall up out of the way.

We will have a screen solution for the extended! Will share once the design is finalized! 👌🏻

I think this idea of an ICE generator and the power assist that keeps the EV range the same as when not towing is a great idea. Is this built to last, unlike your typical camper that leaks after a few years?

Yes, quality is at the heart of what we do, and the PG5 is built more like an automotive product. 👌🏻

Learn more about the Evotrex-PG5

Towing with an electric truck creates an interesting paradox. Electric vehicles have become incredibly advanced — high horsepower, instant torque, connected, and massive battery capacity — yet once an RV trailer is attached, the experience is still dominated by familiar constraints: greatly reduced range, charging limitations, and the burden of energy planning.

That mismatch is exactly what led to the creation of Evotrex.

Welcome to Evotrex

We're reimaginging the outdoor lifestyle—intelligent, enjoyable, and without compromise. While mobility technology has evolved, off-grid living remains tethered to fragile infrastructure and power limitations. We're breaking that cycle by rethinking the relationship between technology and the wild. We deliver pioneering technology that takes you beyond electric. We enable true freedom.

Evotrex-PG5
Unlike traditional travel trailers that drain your range with drag and dead weight, the Evotrex-PG5 is an adventure powerhouse: the world's first power-generating RV. Equipped with an onboard EV battery and electric motor, the PG5 provides active torque assist while you tow. The integrated, automotive-grade generator replenishes the battery and delivers usable power on demand. The result? You can camp completely independent of campsite infrastructure for days, experiencing true freedom on your own terms with all the comforts of home.

Adventure powerhouse: up to 270 kWh of usable energy on a cycle.
  • Horizon™—onboard power generator (up to 225 kWh with 20 gal. of regular gasoline)
  • 43 kWh LFP battery pack
  • 1.5 kW integrated solar array over the rooftop
With that foundation, the PG5 supports capabilities including:
  • Active Power Assist when towing (torque assist)
  • RangeBoost™ V2V DC charging at up to 60 kW (via NACS port)
  • Home energy backup (up to 12 kW)
  • Air suspension & automotive-grade steel chassis
Camping at its best:
  • Fully-insulated shell and walls; zero-wood construction
  • Two residential queen beds
  • Basement-mounted HVAC system for optimal climate control
  • Full dry bath with instant hot water
  • Portable projector with wireless speakers
  • Chef's kitchen with two induction burners, a fridge w/ freezer, a range hood, and a generous working space
  • Utility bar: foldable camp table with water & power ports
  • Terrece™: motorized roofed patio extension (43 sqft)

Towing with electric trucks raises interesting engineering questions around energy, efficiency, and vehicle-trailer interaction. The PG5 is our attempt at exploring a different design approach. We strongly believe platforms like the PG5 benefit from open dialogue with technically curious owners.
We welcome technical questions, thoughtful suggestions, and discussions. If you’d like to interact directly with our team and early supporters:

Some nice features, but why the misleading Worlds First Power Generating…….?
Other trailers have had generators (no thank you, I‘ll pass on a gasoline generator). This is third out of the gate with tow assist (Pebble Flow, Lightship). Good to see competition, but reverting to a gasoline generator is a step backward in my opinion.

Our generator is fundamentally different from conventional units. It operates seamlessly while towing, continuously replenishing the battery so you arrive at your destination with a full pack.

It’s a gasoline generator. Most of us on this forum bought an EV to move away from fossil fuels. I bought a Pebble Flow to extend that movement to our travel camping.

I would like to see the statistics that back up your claim. I think you just made it up. Personally, I did NOT buy a BEV for the reason you state.

Generators and engines are a key part of our infrastructure, and there are some really good uses for them. Like on this camper. Or as home power when the utility power fails. Or in my wife's Jeep, since she refuses to get a BEV due to all the limitations they bring.

Yep. Watched it. Still no details on weights, tank sizes, etc.
