Diesel last week was $3.49, it’s now $4.99. Heating oil last week was $2.95, it’s now $4.50. Those are real prices we are paying right now in Alaska.This is such a broad brush comment that it is completely not true.
The gas expense going up $0.50/gal is at the most 10% where the gas price was $5/gal, which you can count the number of states in a single hand. And it also depends on how much a households spends on gas as percent of the total expenses.
Even when the cost of transportation filters down to product prices, its not going to raise the prices by 50%.
