There is the Jeep Recon that is coming this year. Maybe the closest competitor in EV category to the R2.

Starting mid $60k. But like most Jeeps it will get deep discounts. Specs are almost identical to R2 Perf.
I think any electrified products from Stallentis post no real threats to Rivian.
Though I think people might cross shop the R2 with the Subaru Trailseeker and Toyota bZ Woodland twin. I’m kinda interested in the Trailseeker. It might not be as capable or has as much range but it’s cheaper and still relatively capable.

Specs are most definitely not identical, considering it has 100 miles less range.

230 miles of advertised range is honestly a joke for a $60k+ vehicle.

IMO, the R2 is a direct competitor to the Toyota 4Runner (third gen) from exterior shaping to the roll down rear window. Weird that the Edmunds video even said that the designers didn't have the Toyota on their board for exterior comparisons.
Exactly.

I still own and drive a 5-speed Gen 3 4Runner. After 26 years, I'm VERY familiar with the size.
I have had the opportunity to see a R2 in person on two occasions. In person it seems identical in size to my 4Runner. There are slight differences you can find when comparing the specs: the R2, like most modern cars, is wider than the 4Runner. The R2 has about 6 more inches of leg room in the second row, which means 6 inches less room in the rear cargo area with the seats up. But the same amount of rear cargo area when the rear seats are down. Same amount of ground clearance too - the 4Runner is a class leader (or was) in ground clearance for a stock vehicle. And in all other ways the R2 is just as capable or better for my on road and off road uses.

No one ever complained that my 4Runner was "tiny". It's not. It's not a boat like some current 3-row SUVs, but it's way bigger inside than a MY or any other sedan-like vehicle (because it has a flat roof, not a sloping one). Plus you don't have to step down into it and can see over the sedan in front of you.

For some reason I frequently end up with a Rav4 when I rent cars. I think the Rav4 is OK, but I never felt it was similar to my 4Runner in size or clearance or ride height or capability. And the Rivian interior and performance just blows away both the Rav4 and the 4Runner.

TrailSeeker ground clearance and cargo storage deal breakers for this Sube owner.

Ground clearance is one inch less than the R2 and comparable to the Outback.
In my AO you must have elevated suspension thus WILDERNESS package. That's pushing it on the Crosstrek at 9.3" in deeper snow here.
