Wow, so you can’t even see the full color range in person. That is disappointing.

I think that'll be there but the ones you can play with are limited to the "one"

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
If Rivian used a dealership model the initial wave of R2's would be sold for $90K each (if not more) with the dealership pocketing the difference. Remember the Bronco? I'll bide my time and take my R2 when they offer it to me...
Yeah, they don’t call them stealerships for nothing. Buying direct is the way to go. You know exactly what you’re paying up front before heading to the showroom to sign some final papers and leave. Test drives are a must though. They’ll have them after the launch model.

As compelling as the new Volvo EX60, BMW iX3 and Mercedes Benz GLC EV are - specially when comparing the range and charging times to the R2 - those are very likely not even getting a test drive from me as I cannot stand the dealership model.

You can't do a casual test drive. It's always a "let's talk numbers". Fees and numbers are made up last minute. Things get awkward after you decline taking an extended warranty on a new vehicle for the 80th time. Lower interest are tied to maintenance packages (which is illegal but no one does anything about it). I truly abhor the whole experience.

Not saying all are bad but it is very much 50/50 on how the dealership nonsense will go. We recently bought a Tesla, and while they were some huge pains as well, we knew very well what car we were getting with what price, options and everything was signed and done before we even got there. Direct sales isn't perfect, but sure beats the dealership model IMO

I won't buy from a dealer ever again. My gf wanted to look at an Ioniq a while back and it reminded me why I hate dealerships so much.

100% never buying from a dealership again unless its through a Leasehackr PND or something like that where I don't have to play those games.

That would also require me not buying another Rivian, so....

Last time I took a vehicle to a dealership for service, they tried to tune me up for over $8k of services and flat out lied about the amount of brake wear I had. Stealerships indeed.

Remember the drawback to DTC is they can reduce (or raise) the price at anytime. Tesla had that happen and the ones that purchased the month before were upset. Dealership model gets to hid the prices from consumers so we can be dumb and in the dark thinking we got the best deal (snark).

Thanks. Found this on the Rivian site yesterday myself. The wife and I are registered for the Miami event. It is a three hour drive but worth it to see one or more in person. Very excited! We are going to make a weekend of it and enjoy Miami for a couple of days as well.

I'm in for Long Island. Made reservation very late (JAN-2026) but hoping to snag a launch one anyways.
From the address in Long Island the service center has like 10 parking spots. I must be looking at the wrong place because I don’t see how the can stage an event in such a small facility.

I just got an email that Palo Alto (near San Francisco) has been added to the tour on May 15-17!
Since there is already another block party scheduled for those dates in Miami, that’s means the vehicles will need to be split across two locations or they have more vehicles ready for show and tell.

Hopefully more vehicles so we can view the exterior and interior colors of interest!

Watch the videos of the Venice event - there was virtually no parking there either- people parked on the streets and walked a pretty good distance ;)

I meant parking for the R2 vehicles. Venice has some land but looking at the Long Island location on maps (never been) it is extremely small so I am not sure how five vehicles are displayed (if same number as Venice). Their NYC locations may have been better bets.
