FYI: Rivian service will not use the jack points on the EV Sportline Rock Slider running boards.

In a new policy change (due to a recent jacking accident) Rivian will now charge $250 to remove EV Sportline slider/running boards before they service the vehicle. They will not reinstall the boards after removal.

I have the sliders on my R1T, what a hassle to now service the vehicle.

Oh interesting. If true across the board, it's unfortunate that it includes the running boards (which leave the factory jack points accessible).

Really surprised by this. EV Sportline has partnered with Rivian on products in the Rivian Shop and heard they would be providing more products to come… seems strange that Rivian would take that stand now. @EV Sportline - have you heard this and can you let us know what you have been told?

And yet this is the most often recommended slider on the subreddit... people treat their choices like religion; as if there is a personal bonus if they convert others. smh

None of that means anything. They're just business deals. Deals for specific things are not blanket endorsements on everything.

This is not entirely accurate. Here are the facts:

1 EV Sportline “Running Boards” do NOT require removal. This has always been the case. Our running boards have been reviewed directly by Rivian and do not obstruct factory lift ports.

2 EV Sportline “Rock Sliders” are a different product, and provide full underside coverage protection - these are the only sliders on the market that truly offer a full slider coverage from RUS out beyond rocker panel. We incorporate Rivian Jack Puck ports into the slider, so removal is not necessary. See our product page for the schematic. We approved lifting the Rivian directly from these ports. That said, each Rivian service center has dealt with these differently. Some don’t require removal. Some require removal. Also keep in mind, if you’re doing battery out service / warranty, it makes sense you’d have to remove these to get to the battery.

My suggestion is get the details on why they want to remove these sliders. If they can’t get it the battery or some component blocked by the sliders, removal makes sense. If they simply don’t want to lift the Rivian on the sliders, try to reason with them that removal is unnecessary. Or if you’re doing a tire service, try Discount Tire - they won’t remove sliders to lift it.

Also, any other brand sliders will have the same fate.

@EV-Sportline: Rivian will not jack the R1T using the holes in the slider covers. As I stated, this is due to jacking incident that occurred a couple of months ago. Rivian wants the slider and the running boards removed before lifting the vehicle.

Which running boards in your inventory do not cover the factory jack holes. Rivian uses a puck with a 2" diameter center lift point and the puck is 6" in diameter at the base. The slider covers and the running boards themselves have to be removed to not interfere with the Rivian service center pucks. The Rivian puck is pn# TSN00527-202-B.

Out of curiosity, do you have any documentation that shows Rivian approval of the slider jack points that I can take to the Rivian Service Center for next time?

FYI, Rivian Service states the slider/running board removal for jacking is due to their Rivian Environmental Health and Safety policy (EHS) now being enforced at service locations due to jacking incident

I have a Yakima rack mounted on top of the R1T bed rails with some home made aluminum plates that attach to the rack mounts.

Rivian service guys are installing that water shield on my truck and they don't have to take off my rack as the mounts just sit on top of the side rails.

I have a Yakima rack mounted with Yakima generic bed rail mounts screwed into aluminum plates I mounted to the Rivian rack mount points on the bed sides. Rivian service is also installing that splash guard on my truck and they don't have to remove my rack because it just sits on top of the bed sides.

I guess I lucked out with that extra...

I seriously considered buying an R1T from a dealership in Phoenix that had aftermarket bumpers, roof rack, and off-road lighting installed by RAGO. They bought this low-mileage R1T so they could develop their product line and use it for photo shoots and as a display vehicle at off-road events. Sadly it didn’t have the extra battery protection underneath despite now looking like it was a real off-road beast.

As I was getting serious about buying this truck I visited my local SC and they said if they ever had to replace the fog lights or anything else around the bumpers I’d have to take them off and reinstall them. RAGO says it’s an 18-hour process per bumper. Granted I wouldn’t have to cut away OEM front bumper sections again, but the hassle of doing this would be insane - so much more than removing running boards or rock sliders. The SC rep said they’d seen a number of trucks needing new fog lights too.

I didn’t get the truck with over $10k worth of kit installed but I did find a nice Feb ‘23 R1T in LA Silver with the reinforced battery protection. I have a set of EV Base running boards I’d like to install but now I’m wondering if that’s a good idea or not. It’s helpful to read about the size of lifting pucks the Rivian SCs use vs what we use at home or what other shops use.

Guys,

Let's please stop mixing products - our "Running Boards" are not part of this conversation at all. Removal is not necessary. Service center jack pucks clear just fine.

"Rock Sliders", as mentioned, really depends on the local service center staff. If your local service center is requiring removal, that is their stance. Rivian has not 'lift tested' our integrated Rock Slider jack points, to our knowledge. So, service centers are either lifting on our Sliders at their own reasonable discretion, or not lifting because service centers are not approved to lift anywhere but the factory lift points.

Thanks again

Can you please post a link to the Running Boards that do allow clear access for the 6" diameter service center pucks?
