I have searched a bit and with many pages to look for, wasn't getting to the point. So pinging the community for latest advice on rotations? I am putting 5 new tires (for spare as well). Wondering if I should do the 5-tire rotation policy, or 4-tire (most common) and leave the spare in the spare-well?

* Does Rivian support 5-tire rotation (any warranty violations)?
* The 5-tire rotation method: rearward cross: rears straight to front, fronts cross to back, spare to right rear. Correct?
* Finally, with a RTT tent on the truck (bed area on top of the accessorry rack), is it possible to access the full-size spare?

Thanks a lot!!

They have no reason to not support it, but they won't do it.

It's fine and you will not be met with objections, unless tread difference is more than 3/32" or so. My local SC, Lake Forest, CA, did it without question. With a RTT mounted you can still drag the fullsize spare out. Just less convenient. The tire hoist in the Gear Shop helps.

PS... the harness is well made. Even at $70 it's not a terrible deal. And if your SC refuse to do 5-tire, even when difference is 3/32" or less, lodge complaint with Rivian and take your business to Discount Tire (just be sure your chosen DT knows how to lift a Rivian without causing damage).

Until we wear out the OEM 21" tires, which we use as "summer" tires, we have one tire/wheel set for winter and one for summer. Each tire/wheel set is about 85# and is very difficult for me to lift by myself.

Will the Gear Shop harness go on and off each tire, sequentially, for lifting purposes? Or would I need to buy four, and get Costco to dismount each harness from its tire?

Thanks in advance!

The harness makes handling the large and heavy wheel/tire easier since it has an actual handle. I'm no gym rat. Just an out-of-shape computer jockey who work unreasonable hours too often to live healthy. And I managed to put one on the 34.1" fullsize spare alone. As for buying more than one harness... that I can't answer for you.

I have always done 5 tire rotations, at two different service centers. They charge $60, same as 4-tire rotation. I do my rotations every 7500 miles, since that used to be the recommendation (it's now 9000), and I did my first rotation at ~3750 miles to minimize the difference in wear between tires. I have like 0.5/32 difference between my tires after 40,000 miles.

Yes, they always do rearward cross exactly as you describe.

With a RTT it's probably possible, but you're not going to like doing it. The harness will definitely help, but it's going to be a bitch no matter what you do. If you plan to get a flat in the woods with your RTT on you might consider loading the wheel into the bed first, and using the underbed storage for something that's easier to retrieve. Or even taking the RTT off in order to get the spare out - it only takes 2 people to remove the RTT cross bars and all and set it aside - if you have someone with you this will make accessing the spare so much easier.

They have done it for me. Although I’m now having it done at America’s tire where I got the replacement tires and rotation is included.
My prime reason is that I don’t want to find out 3 years later the spare tire is flat. Because it is only looked at when there is another flat.

I tried multiple times to get them to do a five tire. They always said they only do four, and I gave up after the treadwear became too great.

Maybe it’s the specific service center or service rep. YMMV

Do the harnesses come off and on easily, or with some difficulty?

Costco has unlimited muscles to unload and load at their end, so I'm only worried about making my burden manageable when loading, unloading, and storing at home.

Thanks in advance!

That is how it’s been thus far. Each manager is able to make their own interpretation of policy. Whoever is head of all service needs to wake the f up and run a tighter ship, if Rivian cares at all on creating a consistent owner experience. Or, they will lose some customers.
