Hey everyone!

Got a couple off-roady things on my calendar that may be of interest for you all:

September 22nd-25th - planning to drag the big trailer and toys up to Pismo Beach / Oceano Dunes with the R1 for a long weekend (no big event planned, just the fam). Happy to coordinate a meet up and dunes / beach run if anyone wants to go explore up there, have spent a lot of time in the area. We'll be at an RV park in town w/ hookups the first two nights, then out on the sand Sunday night. May have to push if the girl's race gets re-scheduled.

September 30th - Cal 300 Cleanup in Barstow (weekend before the California 300 desert race):

Fun events (yes, they make picking up trash fun - monster raffle!) and it gets you out in the dirt. RAN network adjacent.

Nice! Planning to get out in the sand? We'll have the truck and quads to go play. Coordinate when it's closer?

Is Pismo still open?

I had a trip I had to cancel and then read that some changes made during covid are closing access

I think that would be a great option!

@AustinWheeler45 Yep, COVID combined with some land use restrictions had it clamped down from mid-2019 for a bit, it's back open now though with a few notable restrictions:

- For on-beach camping, they only allow 500 nightly units, and that's managed through Reserve CA. For that upcoming weekend, Friday and Saturday were capped, but Sunday was open (so I snagged one there, $10 + $7,service fee).

- For day use, they're also limiting access, at 1000 'street legal' passes a day, sold first-come, first serve, $5 each at the entry kiosk.

We're going to pull the toy hauler up, camp Friday and Saturday nights at the county RV camp spot - Coastal Dunes RV park. Decent size spots, 30A hookup on the spot we go, so can do some overnight L2 charging.

Saturday, we'll throw the quads into the back of the R1T from the trailer and drive in, unload and ride (hit the kiosk early for a pass if planning to go in later). Go poke around SLO, Avila, Pismo the rest of the day.

Sunday we'll drag the trailer in early (allowed in at 9AM with a camping spot pass), setup and ride some more, camp overnight on the sand (careful where you set up if doing this - have seen some rigs set too low vs high tide line) then head home Monday mid-day.

Bump - weather is looking perfect for this weekend!

We'll work in some beach cleanup while there, too - /hattip @AustinWheeler45

Pics attached above - great trip, even with frequent charge stops OTW up and back with the big trailer. @RiFiendEnd stopped by at the beach, too!

Weather was beautiful - perfect temps, low wind. Tradeoff, sand was pretty chopped up without overnight winds to clean it up, but we still found some smooth dunes for the girls to board down, and got to let the truck eat for a bit, too.

Good times!
