I ran my whole RV (InTech Sol Dusk) for 30-ish hours off the plug in the bed of my R1T. I didn't use the air conditioner, just two refrigerators, a small fan, an exhaust fan and the water pump (briefly to flush the toilet), as well as charging my phone and I didn't have any issues. FYI, that...
Cost is everything. I've noticed when I sell stuff that $4k seems to be the cut-off between the item selling quickly and it taking some time to find a buyer. US car manufacturers have been depending on monopoly markets to fund their sales, and that practice will always leave distorted markets...
Nope. Honestly, trucks are for towing, hauling and commuting. Even a standard EV is plenty quick off the line, and once I'd done a few hard pulls (and thought about tire costs) I pretty much tamed my right foot. I do have the Performance add-on, but it came with the truck when I bought it...
Camp mode will keep the vehicle from locking and unlocking every time you walk buy it. It also keeps the displays off until you actually sit in one of the front seats.
When I'm towing my InTech Sol Dusk (with a much higher profile than your cargo trailer), I actually get a slightly more optimistic range estimate that what I actually get. My R1T will estimate 1.1-1.2 miles per kWh, but I'm usually closer to 1.0 when all things are said and done.
I've been battling sciatica over the winter, and the R1T's seats with the tall sides really do a number on my back. So I embarked on a period of lots of little adjustments - seat tilt, back tilt, and steering wheel placement until I found a position that seems to minimize my sciatic nerve...
I personally hate adaptive cruise control and would much rather have the option to turn it off. I absolutely treasure my time towing as it lets me be in control.
I had mentioned above that I was going on a towing trip, and that was this past weekend. It was a short one - about 80 miles each...
Nope. The cruise control is strictly for maintaining speed while towing. I believe you'd get a collision alarm before hitting someone or something, but there's no set following distance. I just got back a weekend towing my RV, and had glorious uninterrupted cruise control on the Interstate...
Conversation I've had with multiple people:
"I don't know how to get there."
"Your car has navigation. Why don't you use that?"
"I never bothered to learn how to use it."
Thunking sound from me hitting my head on the wall.
Quick update on the InTech Rover Dusk. We drove from Maple Grove MN down to Whitewater State Park fully loaded. The R1T was estimating the trailer at 5,000 lbs. The trip down was 131 miles with a stop at a Tesla Supercharger on the north side of Rochester, MN where we added 48 kWh in 17...
When I traded in my '21 Ridgeline on my R1T, the Rivian rep I dealt with told me they shred the license plates and send the cars to an auction site. I don't think Rivian is really motived to deal with non-Rivian trade-ins, so the question becomes how much hassle can you avoid and how much sales...
Range anxiety? Not trying to mock, its just we've all grown used to '..eh, there's gas stations everywhere. If I need gas, I'll just pull over and get some'. It's different when you have an EV and you have to think about it.
Funny, when I hauled my camper back from Billings MT to Minnesota I didn't have any jerkiness or other issues. Maybe its just your particular vehicle? Any others who tow care to comment?
I'm going to be taking off on a short camping trip in a couple of weeks, and I'll make mental note to...
Yeah, I think adding an anti-rattle device might help with the jerky feeling you were getting. There's a little slack between the receiver the hitch stinger that can move around when you're accelerating or going over a bump. It used to make an audible 'thunk' in my Ridgeline, so I added the...
