  1. L1 Wall Charger Outlet Discoloration

I"d get an electrician to take a look at the wiring leading to the outlet and also replace that outlet with a GFCI and weatherproof cover. Even so, I wouldn't recommend pulling more than 10-12 amps continuous and if you're there for a while it never hurts to turn it off for an hour in the...
  2. RJ says R3X is ~2 years away. Confirms R4

That's quite fair. But many of the Rivian announcements are for PR value with little substance - how many autonomous vehicles is Rivian delivering to Uber this quarter? Next quarter? No question VWAG needs software help, and they have a desperation deal in place with Rivian. Clever...
  3. RJ says R3X is ~2 years away. Confirms R4

I'd expect R3 to be offset from a mid-lifecycle refresh of R2. If R2 is a 2027 model that implies a late 2028/early 2029 launch date for R3 before the R2 refresh around 2030. As for an R4, who knows? Rivian needs to get profitable with R2 or R3/R4 never happen and Rivian ends up like Fisker.
  4. 15 months with Rivian's Ocean Coast interior - let the cleanup begin!

I prefer non-black interiors in my vehicles - can be tan, red, white, light grey - pretty much anything but black. So when we picked up a 2025 R1S about 15 months ago Ocean Coast interior was one of my few 'necessary' options. Here is a look at how well it's held up in that time and how I get...
  5. Mark Rober teases R2 modification

maybe he slapped one of the last Luminar sensor arrays to the roof to prove it was all garbage anyway and that Rivian LiDAR > Luminar LiDAR
  6. R2 as our only car

Welcome to EV ownership! If you have a level 2 charger at home you'll be fine. We've owned our 2025 Rivian R1S for 15 months and nearly 5,000 miles and have taken it on 150 day trips without issue. Oh, and it's never been to a DC fast charger in that time. Wasn't a plan or anything, just...
  7. Gauging Interest: OEM 20” All Terrain Tire and Wheel Set

Mid-Atlantic is pretty large. In NJ with a set of 22” sport brights with 5k miles.
  8. Front Driver Side Fender Gap - buying used

I'd walk. Looks like a poorly refit replacement panel. Who knows what damage sits under the surface? Easy pass.
  9. Questions for people who have switched from Tesla to Rivian [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS / NO ELON DISCUSSIONS]

Closest I've found to cabin overheat is venting the windows and sunshades https://amzn.to/4f0BhsI Rivian sells a front windscreen shade in the Gear Shop that I use as well. The electrochromatic glass in the main roof panel doesn't do enough by itself thus the reflective shades, which fit great.
  10. Questions for people who have switched from Tesla to Rivian [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS / NO ELON DISCUSSIONS]

I had a 2021 Model S and 2023 Model Y Performance. I found v12 was usable to good on highways, didn't try it anywhere else. FSD on Cybertruck, even though it's the limited FSD (no summon or smart summon still) is very, very good. I couldn't have said that 18 months ago when it wanted to run...
  11. Questions for people who have switched from Tesla to Rivian [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS / NO ELON DISCUSSIONS]

Sounds like aberrant behavior. Did you re-calibrate the cameras? Were you on the old Intel or AMD Ryzen processor? I'm surprised anything runs on those old Intel chips.
  12. Questions for people who have switched from Tesla to Rivian [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS / NO ELON DISCUSSIONS]

In terms of creaks/rattles it seems like many of your Teslas were before the latest round of refreshes. My 2023 MYP was pretty solid and even my early build 2021 Model S Plaid was pretty good though the 2026 Model S Plaid service loaner I had recently was effectively perfect. How has your...
  13. Questions for people who have switched from Tesla to Rivian [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS / NO ELON DISCUSSIONS]

Have owned four Teslas - X, S, Y and Cybertruck in that order. Still have the Cybertruck and a year+ ago picked up a R1S Dual Large so have experience with both sides of this. Rivian has come a long way in a short period of time, no doubt, but there are some drawbacks to be aware of: - app...
  14. "Design Yours" link on R2 website

Can we argue about the intent of the forum now? That should be a fun thread!
  15. "Design Yours" link on R2 website

Believe what makes you happy. But from the lessons the market has learned with Mobileye, AI3 vs. AI4, and even R1 Gen 1 vs. R1 Gen 2 it's pretty clear to some of us that R2 launch edition is designed to be an orphaned product and we've been told that time and time again by RJ and team (RAP1...
