So, back to my original ask (and strictly from an Android Auto perspective), the device adds a full CarPlay/AA interface (display), while using the Phones existing Bluetooth audio connection to the Rivian (once you select the phone as your source in the Audio screen).
For me the functionality...
I appreciate the reply. It's good to know there's something that 'just works'. That said, I'm pretty steadfast with wanting to play 'my' music. My typical commutes usually see cell service drop no less than 3 times. Having my stuff 'local' makes it somewhat less infuriating that the vehicle...
Yeah, IIRC, EVPlay can't use the vehicle mic for AA so an external one is included (may be a Gen1 thing). I tried it in a few locations but people always said I sounded horrible on phone calls. I've seen other posts in the forums about it so I wasn't the only one.
The Display Only Bluetooth...
I hate to admit it, but I tried both.
Based on your posts I first tried the Carpodgo T3 Pro. I wasn't happy with the extra device/screen because I was thinking of adding the Comma3/4; was worried about the clutter above the main display. Sadly, I let a buddy 'try' it. I don't think I'm getting...

I find this happens (to my Gen1) if I get in before it has a chance to fully 'wake up' from a deep sleep. I've taken to either: starting the HVAC before heading out to the vehicle or at least unlocking it as I approach (even if it isn't locked). This seems to mitigate the issue 99% of the time.
I'm on the fence.
Pro's:
I still I look forward to and love driving it.
Still the only non-full-size truck that meets my requirements.
The utility of the frunk and gear tunnel are beyond practical.
Con's:
I feel like the vampire drain is a significant (Gen1) issue. Yes, there are ways to...
Called and confirmed that my '22 (9k VIN) IS compatible. Just need to figure out if I want to be proactive and pull the trigger or wait for mine to stop working at an inopportune time. 🤔
