    I always go back to the liability issue. And this will be the largest barrier to availability. Laws will not keep up with the speed of tech. If the tech truly works, the auto maker should take 100% of the liability but to this point they have all skirted this.

    I don't know that they will have much savings in the weight department and that is what allowed them to switch to a lower cost solution.     Rivian needs to make the current R1S a 4-seater with captain seats in the second row and move them back further. Then they need to make a true 3 row SUV on the R1T platform and wheelbase with 4 wheel steering.

    No, I don't drink. The tech is not practical and causes a lot of false positives. Also applies to drowsy driving and distracted. Don't want to make this political but highly recommend people read the rules in detail. Here is a link to the details: Link

    If the new federal driving laws are upheld and go into effect all pre 2027 cars will hold or grow in value.

    I think a big point that people are missing is that on the Tesla HW4 they only process 200 TOPS max. The current hardware on the R2 is 254 TOPS.     Rivian has no shortage of orders based on emails going out for order windows. This is not a fast switch, and I believe they are already running into chip constraints.
