My service appointment was delayed (the “diagnostic guy” was out sick, but I think I’ve figure it out, at least partially.
It reproducibly happens when my phone Bluetooth is on, the car is locked, and I’m walking around near the edge of Bluetooth range (roughly 45-55 feet through a few walls)...
Since the last message I’ve had -zero- alerts. I’ve been at my office (where 95% of the alerts occur) for about 4 hours now. None over the long weekend, the truck was parked outside an aircraft hangar exposed to weather and noisy aircraft without a peep.
It has very rarely occurred at home...
I do have a Comma 4x installed for about month, but the issue predates that and has not changed. I also have phone charger/dock that's been installed for a couple of years.
I have had that happen--this is new and different. Sometimes every 3 minutes for an hour. Leaving windows down doesn't help, nor does soft or hard reboot.
The actual car alarm doesn't go off, no lights, no horn. Just dozens of push alerts on the app.
Ok, that's interesting. It very occasionally happens at home, and doesn't seem to be related to preconditioning, but my garage is semi climate controlled so rarely gets outside of a range between about 55 and 80 degrees year round.
It's most frequent at work, where the car is parked outside...
I’ve been getting dozens of push notifications that the alarm is triggered on the app, mostly while parked at work. As far as I can tell, the alarm itself isn’t going off (I’m frequently close enough to hear it, and my assistant’s desk is literally 10 feet from my front bumper when parked). It...
This has been my plan as well, but I'll throw a cautionary note--AAA isn't what it used to be. I've called them twice in the last 6 years, neither time did they show up. To their credit, they reimbursed me for the tows later after submitting paperwork, but I no longer trust that they will be a...
I put down off brand plastic tiles (from costco) probably 20 years ago in my garage/shop and have been mostly happy with them. They are somewhat scarred in places, but have held up to a lot of abuse.
I did a dumb thing the other day though which brought out one of the weaknesses.
i was stopped...
The advice above is good, but another thing to consider is that EVs have to have robust cooling (and heating) to manage not only cabin temps but the battery temp. If your AC isn't working, I'm guessing you'll be unable to DC fast charge.
Hopefully it's the fuse, or something else simple, but...
I haven't had luck with the peppermint, but in our hangar we use granules soaked in predator urine which seems to make most of the mice go to our neighbor's hangars.
It is basically kitty litter with fox urine in it (claimed anyway, it has very little odor that I can detect)
I've bought it...
I missed that he was advocating retrofitting, which I think is unreasonable.
I -would- like to see accessory inverter that I could plug into the charge port to power a camper (or my house). RJ stated early one that that the Gen1 vehicles were capable of V2L, and this is an obvious use case...
