  1. R2 non-powered frunk is a mistake?

Or just make it standard on the Tri to further differentiate that level when they get around to making it.
  2. R2 delivery @ Service Center in Vista CA

The Pacifica is to be used as a loaner (says the guy who dropped his R1S off at the SC on Tuesday and has a black Pacifica for the next couple weeks while they wait for the backordered dampers and half-shafts). I call every day to see if someone has returned a R1S loaner.
  3. R2 non-powered frunk is a mistake?

Interesting question...I'll be paying the upcharge for 20" wheels and the ocean cloud interior, but I don't know if I'd pay $800 for a frunk that has a power-close option. What scares me is that I have the ability to open it with my phone from anywhere but can't say "oops" and close it again...
  4. How to: TIGHT parking for R1S in garage

We park so that there's about 2" between the back of our R1S and the garage door - leaving room in front of the vehicle to walk in from the house and get to the driver's side. Our parking aid is a laser parking guide - It's motion-activated and projects a dot on the dash as we move into...
  5. R2 non-powered frunk is a mistake?

I'm a pretty heavy frunk user - I can't open my R1S tailgate with the garage door closed so the frunk is the first place I put stuff (unless it's a long trip and then I have to think about temps in the frunk). For groceries and the like? They go in the frunk. I'll miss the powered close, but...
  6. Please help with AC charger port disable!

Oy - that sucks. Do you get to the US often? I wonder if you walked into a service center and explained your situation if they might be able to give you some guidance. Since your worst case scenario would be to have to bring the vehicle back to a US service center, you might be better off...
  7. R2 Favorite Features - What's Yours?

Living in farm country we have the opposite problem - when they're spraying pig or chicken manure on nearby fields we have to turn on the "skunker" (recirculate) in our cars so that we're NOT pulling in the outside air. We had friends coming to visit once and they noticed a nasty smell in their...
  8. Level out behind 3rd row?

They're great and provide a nice level surface. I just put some velcro strips on the bottom of mine to keep them in place when I lift the subtrunk cover. The corner pieces didn't shift a lot, but I was getting tired of the center piece dropping into the subtrunk every time I removed the cover.
  9. Common Myths About CarPlay

Thanks for the reply - Because EVPlay is a hardware solution (basically using the infotainment screen as a monitor/input device for two computers) I think it's really unlikely that Rivian could detect it or do anything about it, but I know it's a possibility. If Rivian gets to the point where...
  10. Common Myths About CarPlay

I may regret this, but...Why aren't you taking advantage of the opportunities to add Carplay to your Rivian? I was more tolerant of this attitude in 2023 when there weren't any options, but I now own two different CP solutions for my Rivian: EVSportline Smart Dash Screen - This solution comes...
  11. What’s Coming in Rivian’s 2026.15.30 Hotfix

Absolutely, and sometimes all you get in that nicely wrapped package is a pair of socks...Functional, but not fun.
  12. Common Myths About CarPlay

<rant> With EVPlay available I don't understand why there's any complaining anymore. If you want AA/CP in your Rivian, you can now have it. I missed Waze on long trips, so I bought the original EVPlay unit. 80% of the time I'm driving around town and never switch to CP, but I've found it...
  13. Rivian Assistant Tips and Tricks Thread

This functionality is really nice for those of us with EVPlay - I can have Waze up on my main screen and use voice commands to change from all purpose to conserve and back again. It's also nice for adjusting the temperature without having to switch off the EVPlay screen.
  14. R2 Infotainment Update: Higher performance than R1, local AI models and new media apps

I'm "only" 62, but the first four cars I drove only had AM radios. It wasn't until I bought my first car on my own (an '86 Chevy Blazer) that I had FM. Technology changes...I never expected the manufacturers of my earlier cars to give me a new radio just because the newer models of the car...
