Good to know, thanks. I did indeed get them from kanundrum, tires definitely are on the worn side (as was clearly disclosed by him). Hoping to get 5-10k out of them and see how the off-road stuff goes, before deciding to drop more on factory-spec 20"s with 34" tires.
One question about rub - I...
Cool, thanks for the confirmation. I'll make note for next time to ensure that the vehicle is in highest before doing the swap. Good note about the grease too. Might see about pulling the RAM wheels and throwing some grease under the rings - they were pretty tight for the initial install and I...
Just so I know what I need to be tracking when getting tires moved around, I'd appreciate a double-check on how I got the set of RAM wheels installed:
Tire change mode on
Popped off the jack covers, popped the jack pucks in, lifted with a floor jack
Removed 21" wheel
Tapped on hub centric ring...
Yikes, making me worried about my jack puck use. First time using them myself - figured you just popped off the cover, popped the puck into the exposed port, and jacked from there. Hoping I didn't screw anything up with them.
That was my first impression - get the wheels up all the way to minimize how far they travel when jacking them up. But yeah, certainly appreciate other weigh-ins on this in case I'm missing something.
Shop wasn't experienced with Rivians, so I oversaw the process. Hub centric rings were just for the wheels I swapped to (the classic RAM 2363). It actually says to put it in all-terrain/highest right under the tire change mode toggle, it just slipped my mind to double check the drive mode.
Just swapped the wheels out on my R1S. Unfortunately, in the flurry of guiding the tire shop through opening the jack covers, using the jack pucks, and popping on the hub centric rings for the other wheels, I forgot the double check that I put the vehicle in all-terrain/highest (was in...
Just had a chance to get the RAM wheels fitted. Worked with a tire shop to get them fitted - they weren't familiar with the vehicle, but had me guide them through the process. I'd appreciate a double-check of my steps to check that I didn't screw anything up.
Tire change mode on (forgot to put...
Ended up getting a bumped up appointment at the service center. They had the car for about a week, I was told they reflashed the firmware for several modules to fix communication failures which were causing errors. While it's only been a few days, everything seems to be working well again.
Thinking some Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday during mid-August. I wasn't sure what to expect and it's a bit of a trip out, so hoping to get an idea of what to expect before confirming plans.
Thinking about visiting the dunes this month, but I'm a little worried about how crowded/noisy/dusty it might be. I'm not a fan of being around loud and exhaust-spewing vehicles (found that out after a couple of autoXs with track cars which smelled like they dumped half their fuel out the...
I'll be visiting the Ann Arbor area between the 13-20th and would be happy to meet up for some off-roading. Recently picked up a set of 20" RAM wheels and AT tires and am looking to get some use out of them. I'm thinking to make a day trip out to Bundy Hill and possibly spend a night at the...
Anyone have thoughts on aluminum vs plastic centric rings? I've got a set of aluminum ones right now, but I'm somewhat worried about the ring seizing against the hub/wheel. Any durability concerns with plastic?
I'd be amazed if that's true. The mobile service tech quite literally told me to go to a local tire shop if they were willing to work on the vehicle. I'd get that statement triple checked before you make a decision based on it.
Appreciate all the responses - my main concern was the possibility of something going wrong, with the wheel not being intended for the vehicle. It sounds like that shouldn't be a problem (though avoiding low/lowest might be a good idea). Was hoping to keep access to low for long roadtrip miles...
