It's not IMO. It looks good and has the option of adding a gasoline engine to extend range to ~500 miles.....but it's also delayed for several years and only imaginary at this point. Also, VW doesn't exactly have a great history of reliability.....(or other "history" for that matter)...
What reliability issues? There are zero reports off “issues” since deliveries started just a few days ago….you cancelled because of your perception….not reality
Until you get to the end of 36 mos and shop trade in offers the “estimated equity” on the finance side is just made up (barely better than a guess), which heavily tilts the “analysis” one way.
I hope mine doesn't come up. Early day 1 reservation, near 2 service centers and R1 owner. The issue is that I love my Quad R1T enough that the "launch package" is unpersuasive and I'm waiting on a 3 motor variant .....or keeping my R1T to add an R3X at some point later...
Your numbers are off.
At least according to the Rivian website, if you configure to a price of $60,990, then the lease is estimated at $877/months with $5772 due at signing (taxes being variable by state).
Wear on tire edges (inner or outer) could be due to overuse of different ride heights. Your ~7500 lb truck is generally aligned at the middle height setting (from factory), so naturally if you are driving mostly in a different setting, the alignment will be "off".
More importantly, you can...
I could count on my hands how many times I have used my R!T frunk in 3.5 years. Additionally, the whole point of the R2 is to cut complexity and cost to make it "available to the masses", yet everyone wants the $100K vehicle (options) priced at $50K. It is very likely that their will be 3rd...
Do your research. The available extended warranty is very unlikely to pay out more than you have to pay to buy it at this point....unless you just want one for peace of mind. Strictly financially you're better off sticking $5K (or whatever you want) into an HYSA as an emergency repair fund.
As a general rule, extended warranties are not worthwhile in terms of cost/benefit ("generally", but of course there are outliers), unless the benefit you want is just peace of mind.....
It takes a little (really pretty minimal) effort, but you can take care of the "dark out" yourself for about 1/2 (or less) of what they will eventually charge....
