  1. R2 range based on ABRP (implied highway ranges)

^^^ This. Even at 50kw you are adding range at over 150 mph.
  2. Rivian vs Scout

On paper RAM EREV looks very capable, but personally I am skeptical given that every EV Stellantis has delivered to the US market have been years late and complete garbage (Charger, Recon, 500e, or pure vaporware - ahem Circuit EV). If they do manage to get it out, I expect like every other...
  3. Rivian vs Scout

If I was looking for an EREV I would put my bet on the Ford being best of the bunch though I expect GM may step into the EREV fracas as well with a Colorado and/or silverado derivative. BYD is eating their lunch with the Shark. They need to act...
  4. Mercedes vs Tesla Supercharging (which should I pick?)

On an R2 you will be able to charge up to 15% faster on the MB chargers with a CCS to NACS adapter because of the higher current rating. https://evchargingstations.com/chargingnews/2027-rivian-r2-fast-charging/
  5. Some R2 Invite Dates Getting Bumped Up by Rivian

Yes! And as I said on the other thread before it got shut down, I am showing aug-sept order date. My little experiment indicated that if you reserve in mid June (or now) you will be able to order 6-8 weeks later if you take the launch edition. I think that goes under the heading of I was...
  6. Would love to see Rivian put LIDAR on the R1 first!

At my R2 test drive I had this convo with the guy that sold/delivered all of our RIvians. I won't recount the details, but he certainly seemed to think this was coming to R1 s00n. (Like early 27.)
  7. Some R2 Invite Dates Getting Bumped Up by Rivian

I won't keep beating a dead horse but I will note one last time that the "backlog" is not a real backlog. I am not suggesting one bad thing about Rivian or the R2. History teaches us that lots of enthusiasts put down refundable $100 deposits as a "free option" or to voice their approval. A first...
  8. Some R2 Invite Dates Getting Bumped Up by Rivian

I take that as positive news on production ramp. The reality is this: if you want a launch edition this year you can have one. The demand on the LE is modest. (IMO people waiting on the tech upgrades.) My mid-June reservation is showing ready to order in August-Sept.
  9. Upcoming BMW iX5 will be a range beast

iX4 coming in next month or so. iX6 end of year and iX7. next year. It is interesting that they are rolling out the next tech bottom up (highest volume to lowest volume units).
  10. Upcoming BMW iX5 will be a range beast

Your prediction has come true. Thomas over at Autogefühl at 100 kph (62 mph) 3.4 mi / kwh => 490 miles of range. Nice weather and blah blah but 490 freaking miles. It is a road trip beast. For me, I like how it looks. But what can I say, I like the Rivian stadium lights front end and five years...
  11. R2 10-80% charge test (by State Of Charge)

FWIW, there are more than 11,000 800V charge ports at 2,386 stations as of the beginning of this year. To put that in context, the total Tesla Supercharger network in the US surpassed 1,000 stations (~8,000 plugs) just five years ago in jan 2021. There are a lot of 800V stations out there and...
  12. R2 10-80% charge test (by State Of Charge)

If you combine Tom's two pieces of data (highway range and charging) you get 180 real miles in 27 minutes if you are at 70 mph, and if you are running at 75mph you expect to stop for 25-30 minutes every two hours. This is what you would expect and is highly competitive with a model Y.
  13. R2 10-80% charge test (by State Of Charge)

This is correct for the poorly engineered units like the new Volvo EX60 that uses a boost strategy. It is incorrect for the modern 800V architecture on the BMX iX3 for example.
  14. Which R2 colors look best when dirty?

Not helpful for now but just in case for future reference: we have never had a vehicle that hides dirt as well as the Dune. (Seems obvious once you say it but was not something we expected.) If not for the windows I think you could get away with never washing it - especially with the color...
  15. Rivian Q2 Deliveries Beats Estimates. Raises Delivery Guidance For Fully Year 2026

If you grant the GM difference as persistent and sustainable (op margin for Tesla is below Ford) the numbers just shift to a 1.1 million vehicle a year with those sort of margins. No matter how you slice it I think Rivian is well valued for its current state. The fundamentals valuation says...
