After more research, rwerksman confirmed that apple OEM and jsaux (and really any wireless magsafe charger) will negotiate down to only 7.5W when plugged into the the usb-c ports. Due to the fact that the power supplied is 12V x 1.25A.
The only way to get 15W fast charging is to tap into the...
Did I read it correctly, that if we don't get the wiring kit, but instead plug the jsaux or Apple pucks directly into the USB-C ports... They negotiate down to 7.5W and not the full 15W of the port?
I've noticed that when I plug a jsaux into the usb port, it does not fast charge my Android, so...
rwerksman (riviparts) posted the USB-C ports are 12V x 1.25A = 15A.
The Jsaux pucks say input 5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A... maybe the 1.25A is causing it not to pass through fast charging wirelessly?
Just tested with my wife's Pixel 7 Pro... same thing. With magsafe puck plugged into the usb-c port, it only gets regular chargning. If I plug the magsafe into a brick or 12v cig adapter, I get rapid charging.
So if you are charging Android, don't expect fast wireless charging using magsafe...
I did see that thread. Which is part of the reason I was surprised that the ports aren't providing fast charging when a puck is plugged into them. If I plug the pucks into a 15W power adapter, they provide fast charging. So something's a miss. I'm guessing it has to do with QC2 vs QC3 vs...
You're right, sorry, BLE. Not 100% sure if my watch uses BLE vs UWB.. but either way, I think the issue is more on the phone side than the car side. Especially since it works whenever I restart my phone. Will need to test with more devices though.
I've been trying to replace the internal wireless charger, with 3rd party printed plate, and magsafe pucks... I know plenty of people have done the same.
My situation is a bit unique as I have a samsung, with a metal ring, so that it can be used with magsafe products. This works perfectly with...
Considering it works perfectly on my wife's pixel, I think it might be a bug with the phone and not the vehicle.. Seems like the UWB is going to sleep or something. I have a garmin watch that also connects to the phone app with UWB, and that also will stop connecting.
Paak does not consistently work on my fold4. It will if I restart the phone, but usually stops working shortly after.
My wife's pixel 7 pro works perfectly.
At some point I'll probably factory reset my phone... Just not looking forward to it.
I was going to put it back to see if that was the reason (or one of the reasons) there was loss... or if it was just a coincidence, and something else changed.
But I see your point. That said, I've only had my car for a week, so there really isn't much historical data. So I'll leave it off...
Sorry, I should have said, that's not as bad as what others have reported. Obviously still not acceptable. But I think if you have the frunk issue, it doesn't let the car sleep at all and you see much higher drains.
As I mentioned, for me this was nearly a mile of loss per hour.
Second night...
I had my doubts... But this actually worked for me. Received my truck 5 days ago, every night I would lose 8-10 miles (outdoors, temps in low 40s). Last night I removed the panel at 7pm, truck said 203 miles. This morning 6:30am, truck has 202 miles!
I'll test more over the next few nights, but...
I just received my truck last week, and I'm losing about 7 to 8 mi per night to vampire drain. Parked outside, temperatures dropping to the low 40s. I'll try removing the frunk trim tonight and see if there's any difference.
My rear lights also blink. I thought I had read that happens when...
