Wow…I’m a gray haired white dude with brown eyes. I took delivery of a White R2. I wasn’t trying to match my skin…but maybe I lucked out. On the other hand, perhaps I screwed up…probably should have instead ordered silver to match my hair. Not sure about the brown eye thing…probably need to...
I took delivery of my R2 last Friday at the Oklahoma City SC. I was their third delivery. It was 2.5 weeks from order to delivery. My choice of location was no doubt instrumental in rapid delivery. Those living on the coasts or urban areas with high EV adoption rates appear to have longer...
They could enforce the law through the annual inspection process and maybe a new “tire inspection fee”. That said there would need to be a comprehensive data base reflecting the respective efficiencies of the OEM tires vs the replacement options. I can’t image this law is very enforceable…but...
The thing that is especially irritating to me is that I made a purchasing decision to acquire the 20” wheels, in part because I thought they would be less prone to impact damage compared to the 21s. I still would probably purchased the 20s but….geez.
I received this information from a representative at the Denver SC when I did my test drive. He specifically shared the the 20” was forged and the 21” was not. That said I just did an AI search and appears I was misinformed; both wheels are indeed forged.
Perhaps, perhaps not. The 20” rim
Is forged, the 21” rim is cast. Would much rather have the durability of a forged rim (and the more durable tire). Can always replace with AS if the ATs get too noisy; though they are surprisingly quiet when new.
Accepted delivery of VIN 23xx Friday afternoon in Oklahoma City. GW on 20” w/spare tire kit. Ordered 7/28. Obviously prebuilt, in inventory. Was delayed for a few hours as techs had some challenges with a software updates. Otherwise very smooth delivery and great staff. Drove the car back...
I just picked up an R2 on 20”. Slightly less quiet than the 21”s we test drove but certainly not very noticeable at this point. After 10,000 miles it might be a far different story as AT tires can sometimes get noisy. That said, until last week I owned a Jeep Wrangler with KO2s. Even after...
Nearly all cars manufactured and sold today are “software defined”, some more than others. Vehicles most at risk are those where the long term viability of the manufacturer is at risk. If Rivian survives, the R2 will likely be appropriately supported for the duration of its useful life. If...
Did my test drive in Denver. My experience was positive. That said, what happens in the service bay can be entirely different. Hope all gets worked out. Very frustrating….
Atrocious. Makes me seriously question QC on the entire vehicle. Nothing less than a perfect match is acceptable on a brand new vehicle. Delivery should have been rejected.
I’m scheduled to pick up Friday; everything is complete in the app, including payment. I have not heard anything from the delivery team. Reached out on chat this morning…still crickets though I was told communication would be forthcoming. I asked for confirmation that the car was at the SC...
Sway bar releases would be especially helpful. I suspect lockers will be impossible unless accomplished through programming…which would be a Rivian project.
Thx for the link…I’m coming from a lifted Wranger Rubicon Unlimited. The R2 seems like a poor choice for hard core off-roading…though fine for easy and perhaps more moderate trails. The lack of articulation and limited approach and departure angles is especially problematic.
