Looks like Steingold is only offering plans from Veritas and Zurich when I check. I'm at 49K miles for 2023 Quad. I have not seen anyone discussing veritas or Zurich plans so I'm leery about those.

This is the first time I have heard of Veritas or Zurich extended warranty plans for Rivian.

I checked out the pricing and it seems reasonable for the Zurich comprehensive plan (more expensive and better feedback) or the Veritas premier plan (less expensive and lower feedback).

I would make sure you compare the terms for the exclusionary warranty and pick the one that will cover the most parts especially when it comes to suspension.

I ran both contracts through ChatGPT and it tends to lean towards Zurich being the better policy / company to deal with.

Both policies have terms about not covering shocks but they might cover dampers for the air suspension. ChatGPT tends to think Zurich has a better chance of covering the dampers over Veritas.

ChatGPT summary:

Bottom line

For a Rivian R1T or Rivian R1S:

  • Choose the Platinum exclusionary policy (#1 - Zurich).
  • It is materially better suited to Rivian’s complex suspension architecture.
  • It gives you much stronger odds for expensive adaptive suspension and hydraulic system claims.
  • The stated-component policy (#2 - Veritas) is too restrictive for a vehicle with integrated electro-hydraulic suspension systems.
Which company has better exclusionary terms?
Zurich

Pros:

  • Widely sold through OEM dealerships
  • Better-established claims infrastructure
  • More transparent coverage descriptions
  • Comprehensive plan is clearly marketed as exclusionary coverage
  • Better reputation among enthusiasts and dealer finance managers compared with many independent warranty firms

Cons:

  • Zurich explicitly excludes some suspension wear components in many contracts
  • Shock absorbers are often excluded even under comprehensive plans
Veritas

Pros:

  • Sometimes cheaper
  • Offers exclusionary-style plans on luxury vehicles
  • Can offer long term lengths

Cons:

  • Less transparent publicly about exact covered components
  • Mixed-to-poor owner feedback online
  • Fewer documented examples of successful high-dollar claims
  • Contract quality appears more dealer-dependent

When I looked, the Zurich plans were much more expensive (like double) as compared to XCare

Very few Zurich plans make sense pricewise and even then they tend to be more than XCARE as you mentioned.

The Zurich plans go up a lot in price once you add more mileage to the plan.

Here is an example how mileage can really increase the price of the policy.
