Incoming text messages not showing up

For those with iPhones, if you have verified that the Rivian Audio that is connected has show messages enabled, have you tried either turning off Bluetooth on the iPhone and turning it back on and/or rebooting the phone?

Yes, I have tried toggling Bluetooth off/on and have restarted my phone multiple times. I have tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions I can find. I am not sure what the problem is.

Android user: can send without issues, do not receive incoming. Have tried reboots, unpairing, etc.

Mine randomly started working yesterday afternoon. I did restart the infotainment system before I got out of the vehicle at work, restarted my phone before returning and then someone texted me and got a little alert in the bottom left corner of the driver screen. No idea if any of those steps helped but seems to work consistently now for receiving texts. Just wish it would load all text thread history into the messages UI.

Rivian deployed an iOS mobile app update yesterday, v3.12.1. Maybe this fixed something?

I’m on apple iOS. My buddy with an android was having same issue with his R1T and it randomly started working for him last night.

Android user here. Got the notification Rivian was running a promo with the new assistant for two months free of Connect+. Tried the setup process multiple times. Could not get inbound text messages to work.

Did not find the assistant useful nor an improvement to my existing workflows in the car. Already turned it off. Don't plan on subscribing to connect+ still.

Gen1 R1T with an Android phone. I unpaired and forgot my phone/truck from both devices and repaired. I am now getting send and receive messages. When I re-paired, I re-allowed all the appropriate permissions on my phone for contacts and messages.

I will say, the incoming notification is delayed on the truck screen by maybe 3-5 seconds after my phone notification fires. I find myself having to keep my hands from twitching to read the message on my phone to wait for the truck notification.

Also the left side buttons are what I control the message notification with left of the left wheel to cancel the notification, right of the left wheel to read the message.

Rivian deployed an iOS mobile app update yesterday, v3.12.1. Maybe this fixed something?

I downloaded the Rivian updated ios v3.12.1 over the weekend and was hoping that would solve the problem. Incoming text messages are still not showing up. I also performed another software and phone reset. All of my phone and vehicle settings are correct. Is anyone else still having this problem?

Is there anyway to adjust the notifications? The audio is barely audible. Also is there any indicator you missed a message? As far as I can tell, it only pops in the bottom left of the drivers display for a few seconds then no other notification once that goes away.

Also kinda annoying that when it brings up the text on the screen, it doesn't show the full message even though there is plenty of room for it.

Rivian assistant so far has been underwhelming.

You can adjust the volume for the Rivian assistant.

On the main display tap on the volume icon.
Tap the upper right corner (burger symbol) next to whatever number is displayed. Here you can control multiple volumes. Tap on the Rivian icon for Rivian assistant and turn that up. This raises the overall volume for Rivian assistant and the notifications received. Problem — The next time you use Assistant it’s gonna be loud. You have to find some middle ground.

A popup message appears for incoming text messages on the smaller display in front of you, but it’s brief. Once you hear a notification that a text has been received you can ask RA to read unread messages.

Rivian needs to implement a fixed indicator that you have a message. Maybe at the top of the center display within the notification icon.

Yea, if it adjust all the volume for both the assistant and the notification, that's a failure. The assistant is already too loud and the notification is too soft.
