This link does not work for me
hi all! The new branch structure is live and ready to go (but do please let me know if you run into any issues!) The following branches will be decommissioned at the end of the month (note for comma 4 users: please update to the latest version of these branches so that you can use the branch picker we added to the developer menu for comma 4):
  • ap-dev
  • ap-staging
The new branches: dev, stg, and rel dev replaces ap-dev (essentially just a rename). This branch will be getting nightly updates from upstream and will have new features added to it first; flip side is that it might introduce bugs etc. stg is a prebuilt branch that replaces ap-staging and will periodically be updated with new features from dev. rel is a prebuilt branch that will be our least-commonly updated branch but most stable. In addition, we now support the xnor extreme angle harness on the stg-a branch, a prebuilt branch. We do not have an angle branch for dev or rel yet. Note that stg-a is an experimental branch so there may be hiccups. As usual, please let us know if you run into any issues. Thanks!

Thanks Gerry, but could you ELI5?

What link should the average person use with a fair amount of reliability, if they want to try something other than stock Openpilot? Adventurepilotdev/stg ?
I tried sunnypilot briefly, but found it to be far worse than just stock OP so looking forward to trying out AdventurePilot. Maybe this going live with new branches is why I got stuck trying to install it?

Most likely yes, that's why you got stuck. I would say use either "stg" or "rel'. rel (release version) will be updated less frequently but will be the most stable.

What did you find was worse on Sunnypilot than stock OP, out of curiosity? AdventurePilot is just a fork of Sunnypilot so it's going to be very similar for the most part.

I found the standard SunnyPilot and also the Down to Ride model just ping ponged in the lane more than OP. I didn't get enough time behind the wheel to really feel them out, so it was a short lived test. I recently sent my unit back to Comma to get "repaired", and just received it back yesterday. But sadly, I'm getting the same camera malfunction after just one day on OP and wanted to troubleshoot by installing Adventure Pilot....no dice though, so I don't get to try anything until Comma sends me another shipping return label. Not too happy about it, cool product and works great but I'm not having good luck with their hardware.

Yikes! Anyone around you have a Comma? You can test to see if it's the device or the harness. If their Comma also has the same malfunction you know it's not the Comma but something else down the line.

That's not a bad idea, I am not aware of any local groups around me though with Rivian still being a new brand.

The device prior to repair (not replacement mind you) would give me the camera malfunction error randomly. It never happened while cruise was active, and a reboot would allow me to continue using it. Now after the repair, I don't even get to the calibration part of the setup. So I went from being able to use it with some rebooting frustration, to not at all. I want to lean towards a device issue vs harness because of that, but a sanity check is always a nice option if possible.

Oh, no. I have been running ap-staging for awhile. Now, I have to, again, go through the whole configuration process on that minuscule Comma 4 display? Not looking forward to that. Heck, I can’t even remember how I did it the first time. I assume the new version of ap-staging is called ap-stg. What happens if I don’t do anything? Does it just stop working in four days?

If you backed up your settings in Sunnylink, you can quickly restore them with one button press!

It won't stop working, but it will never be updated either.

Not concerned about restoring the individual settings in Sunnylink. What I was talking about was the process for replacing ap-staging with ap-stg. I assume this needs to be done on the Comma 4 device.

Ah, I do think they are working on introducing a branch switcher for the Comma 4 UI.

I guess I’ll wait until they come up with that branch switcher. Thanks.
No problem. Another alternative if you have a PC is to set up Openpilot Toolkit and a Github account, then you can just type in "op switch <branch name>" in the Openpilot Toolkit terminal.

Thanks, Gerry. But, I think I’ll just wait. Honestly, I love my Comma and it seems to work pretty well for my needs, but always room for improvement.
