There is not much info out there. That being said Rivian will sell you the software for 2 weeks (or longer, more $) and it is reasonably simple to use. You can do most of what is required to get a Salvage car back up and running.
Mark, what would be the right way to obtain the software, contact Rivian sales? Can it be purchased by an individual or LLC?

Contact Rivian, I am not certain on their policy we are a Rivian partner and have an account with them. You may need a friend to help out.

Since I know I rubbed people in this thread the wrong way, I want to clarify that I 100% support Right to Repair and owners rights to have full control over their personal property.

My reaction was in response to the complaints from those who purchased a salvaged vehicle.

Rivian is not a mature car manufacturer. I hope they open things up for owners, but their #1 priority is profitability and not going bankrupt. So if you buy a salvaged R1, it isn't going to be an easy road. Complaining isn't appropriate. Looking for solutions is appropriate, which I think is the real purpose of this thread.

Those guys in Ukraine who buy Rivians are not complaining. They are just finding solutions.

Even the Canucks are finding solutions.:) Problem, only option is solution! RJ did not build Rivian by throwing his hands in the air. Finding solutions is the only option. Would be nice if Rivian sold more of the critical parts, finding used stuff in good shape is the biggest bottleneck.

Yeah, I appreciate your follow-up answer and clarification of your viewpoints.
Btw. I'm really curious how do those dudes in Ukraine repair them if they're bricked and where do they source the parts. I highly doubt that they reverse engineered the software, although supposedly that Loki-PRO device is advertising to have same capabilities.

There is a thread or two from people in the EU who have struggled with maintaining Rivians. They didn't hack the software, but they found work arounds to get the trucks running. I think there is some service shop in the Middle East that many in the EU have used.

All I know is from following those interesting threads in this forum. There is some serious fortitude and ingenuity over there.

I know some of them have access to the software over there.

Any of you guys who restored some of these R1's from salvage had a DTC code for the HV Pyro Switch squib open? DTC: C133193.
The car has a 70% of battery left, but I'm not sure if it will take charge due to this code. (I'm waiting on the charger which I had to buy separately). Am I cooked?

Have you changed the Pyro switch under the dash?

Hi Mark, yes I did and the car runs fine after clearing the post-collision codes in ride.
I believe this code is for the squib in the HV battery compartment. I'm not sure if there will be charging issues due to the this. I read that this is a common issue where people had a Battery Critical failure issue, but I don't have that and the car drives fine. I'll update this thread once I receive the charger.

I guess I forgot to update the thread. The car is charging, driving and behaving well. I just passed the inspection.
I still have an annoying error for the airbag that doesn't go away due to the "pyro switch squib being open" DTC. Could it be a cheap pyrofuse from china?
And have some dents to fix, but the car is charging and and driving nicely otherwise. Thank you all for your help! I wouldn't do this without the support of ppl on this forum.

Good to hear. There is a small chance it is the China Pyro. Worth getting a OEM one to try.
