Cross-country road trip and a LOMAX tonneau cover install by the Agri-Cover crew

I was planning a trip across the USA, from Seattle to Reston, Virginia, for a three-month stay. My soft tonneau cover felt too insecure and too much of an invitation for anyone looking for an easy target, so I decided to switch to a hard cover.

I left it too late to get one delivered before departure, so I ordered a LOMAX hard tri-fold direct from the manufacturer, Agri-Cover in Jamestown, ND, and arranged to pick it up on the way, since my route passed almost right by their factory.

When I got there, I asked if they’d mind if I installed it myself in their car park, since I’d brought all the tools. They said sure. I started unloading the truck bed and pulling off the old soft cover, and before long a bunch of the Agri-Cover staff came out to see what was going on. Turns out many of them had never seen the cover installed on a Rivian before, so they got genuinely excited and took over the install themselves. I happily stepped back and let them at it.

The cover turned out great, and the whole experience with the Agri-Cover team was a real highlight of the trip.

Oh that's a very cool experience with the factory folks!

I have the same cover (well, rebranded WeatherTech, but same) and I love this thing. Relatively secure, pretty waterproof, and very quick and easy to open, close, and even remove if need be.

My truck falls into the VIN range where the OEM retractable cover is incompatible, so this was a nice compromise.
