How wonderful! At some point, it would be nice to know your experiences with the vehicle in general; repairs, maintenance, etc.

All of our past vehicles were bought new and became high mileage. But we invested in all the specified and suggested maintenance of the vehicles during their time with us to ensure normal wear and tear, road wear, etc. did not escalate into something catastrophic due to negligence. Even little things like running them through a car wash every couple of weeks to get the undercarriage cleaned.

100k makes me feel very optimistic about my Rivian!

Yeah, my halfshaft clicks came back in less than a year after replacement, but it doesn't bother me enough to pay out of pocket to replace them again. That is where the Meridian audio comes in handy .

I was told by a technician a few months ago that there is an improved half shaft design that gets done now that removes the possibility for those clicks. You should have a 2 year warranty on your half shafts if you paid out of pocket. I don't think you can get it covered again just because they click, but if there is actually an issue, you may get an updated version next time. Maybe get a comprehensive inspection right before the 2 year "anniversary" of the initial repair and mention concern re: half shafts again.

I was told this mid-April. I've never had to replace my half shafts at 90k miles, but I've always had some ting washer clicks to a certain amount. Assuming what the technician said is true, I am going to be less sad when/if my [half shafts] time comes and that expensive repair is needed.

My half shafts make noise. I put in for warranty service on them last year and had scheduling issues, they said no problem. When rescheduled after the warranty ran they stiffed me even though it's documented before. That is my main beef with the company right now, and I'm a petty mf'er. Cancelled our R2 reservation the same day. Wife and I will be trading in our Rivians for Scouts when they become available.

I just had two replaced under warranty. SC told me the same thing.

Congrats on reaching such a milestone! I'm at about 27k now and am getting the itch to change cars but not sure what I'd get. I still have a bit of warranty left so, I'm looking but not actively.

Question to the larger audience as half shafts seem to be a very common pain point. Do they actually fail and/or damage other components or just an annoyance?

A used R1T is on my radar for a couple years down the road when I'm ready to trade my Mach E so curious.

I did my own sleuthing at the time and concluded it was more of an annoyance, not an early sign of life-safety failure; the Rivian SC told me the same. That's the main reason that I decided to live with it long-term.
There are a few common pain points like the tanneau covers, 12V batteries, A/C condensate leaks, and halfshaft creaks. Several forum members have railed about higher expectations of this price point not being met. My point of view is that it's a miracle Rivian was able to deliver what they did as a new company launching a first-gen model stacked with tech during a global pandemic. I would prefer more reliability, but I am 100% thrilled with my overall experience and consider these issues as part of the ride.
While I have an eye on Scout's progress, there's no other model on the road today that I'd trade my truck for.
