I ordered on 6/17 and got my VIN on 7/2. No word on a delivery date yet. Was told it’s still in final quality checks.

I'd probably take that about as literally as when my Dominos pizza order says it's undergoing quality checks for 20 minutes or when my Amazon delivery goes from "you're the next stop" to "the driver has to make a few more deliveries" for an hour

I think "final quality checks" means it's anywhere between the end of the assembly line and the SC. Mine is in the same state and I've been told it's still waiting at the plant for a rail car assignment and delivery will be scheduled once they have an eta for the SC arrival, accounting for the time it takes them to do the pre-delivery inspection.

4-8 weeks seemingly meaning closer to 8 weeks than 4. Not good for ramping bc you need to get these cars delivered to continually make way for more and more deliveries.

I was invited to order on June 17 2026. I have an R1S, I live near a service center, and I reserved my R2 the first day.

I placed my order on June 25 2026. Esker silver, black interior, 21" wheels (so, no options). They are estimating 8-12 weeks. (It would have been 4-8 weeks for other colors.)

I got my VIN this morning (July 18). No delivery estimate. VIN #33xx.

Also got a deposit from a private buyer for my R1S this morning. Good timing. They will pick it up in a week and a half.

Which Service Center you picking up from? Curious if there’s a correlation between distance from Normal, IL and waiting time for delivery.

My pickup is at the Hazelwood SC (North St. Louis). Which is only a few hour drive south of Normal.
When I was there a month or so ago for my test drive, the rep and I started talking about logistics in general. She mention that bc STL is fairly close and has a large rail depot that orders to that SC should be filled pretty quickly. And that the biggest delay isn’t getting the vehicles to the depot, but loading them on to trailers.

Placed my order on 6/22 and have since had 4 straight weekends of generic pre-production emails. Still well within the original timeline, but seems to be moving along slower than most.

Wanted to share my experience and ask if anyone else has had this happen.

1. I was originally assigned VIN 002514 and a delivery date of 7/14/2026.
2. On 7/13 they told me the vehicle was delayed in transit, so they pushed my delivery date to 7/16/2026.
3. On 7/16 they pushed my delivery date to 7/20/2026
4. On 7/17 they said the vehicle is still delayed and they would get back to me with a new delivery date.
5. On 7/18 they offered me at-home delivery on 8/3. I agreed to that. Then they sent me a new purchase contract with a new VIN, this time 004145.

It seems to me that my original VIN must have had a manufacturing defect of some kind. I've seen many other posts about people having their deliveries delayed and rescheduled, across many different delivery locations. (I'm in Illinois, I know of others in Washington and California who had delays.)

Does anyone have a sense of what the real issues are? I just want to know what I need to check very closely at my delivery event.

I was never assigned a delivery date. Ordered 6/17 and vin assigned 6/30. Delivery center said I’d receive a delivery date about a week ago, but so far, nothing.

May have been damaged in transit and moved to become a demo vehicle.

If I had to guess, pure speculation, it’s that Rivian may not own a transport fleet, at least not yet. And finding drivers that aren’t already contracted out by the larger auto manufactures and can do longer hauls is problematic. Again, purely guessing.

They aren’t using trucks for long haul. As has been discussed earlier in this thread, the bottle neck right now is rail transit. Capacity, delays at rail yards, etc.

My delivery team has been communicating to me that my CO delivery will be scheduled once the vehicle leaves the rail yard in St. Louis.

Rivian will never be in the logistics business and is at the mercy of 3rd party transport companies and market conditions. Unfortunately for Rivian and all of us waiting for deliveries, the market conditions for rail transportation are causing delays.
