I normally get 35 film on the front windows, but I'm thinking that may be too light to match the rear windows which already look pretty dark. Most shops only carry 20 or 35 and not 30, which I think would be perfect, so I think I'm going to have to go 20 for the first time ever. I'll have the coastal cloud interior which makes the tint look way lighter than with a black interior too. Anyone have issues with 20 film seeing at night?

You better check your State regulations. Many limit side glass tint to 35%. I had 20% on a car a few years ago and had to remove to stay legal.
I'm not worried about that but thanks for mentioning. Legal limit is 27% VLT here in SC on the front windows but sooooo many people have super dark tints way worse than 20% VLT. Can't even see if someone is inside on a lot of these cars.

I'm doing 35% on the front, 70% on windshield and back. I feel I had 20 on a car a few years ago and didn't have any issue seeing at night.

Why do you want to tint your windows?
Heat reduction and lesser so, aesthetics. Visibility too, helps keep sun glare down.

I did 35 on the front, 55 on the back. It’s fine. There is a contrast with the front (given the back is already tinted) so not a perfectly clean aesthetic but it looks good. I’d rather have it a little darker in the back to hide contents in the rear and cargo area.

I used to do 20 all around but not a fan of it being that dark anymore.

Thanks. For some reason it always bothers me when all the windows don't look the same, excluding the windshield of course. So I may have to go 20 this time especially with a light interior.

Normally I tint my vehicles too, for heat reduction. However, this thread convinced me I can save money on tint this time.

I prefer the clean aesthetic too and in hindsight probably could have done 70 or no tint in the rear. But given that I'm on roadtrips often and have my dog and cargo in the rear, a little darker helps hide the rear a bit.

With light interior, 20 up front with either 70 or nothing on the rear will be fine.

I'm planning to do the same tint as I did on our R1S 2 years ago.

Got it done today on our R1S.

XPEL Prime XR Plus 70 - full windshield
XPEL Prime XR Plus 20 - front windows
XPEL Prime XR Plus 70 - 2nd & 3rd row windows, liftgate window

Total is $915 - done by authorized XPEL installer here in Southern Oregon.

Yes, this is a very helpful thread I reference a lot. I am only doing front windows bc of that.
If you care about heat reduction, get a ceramic tint, don't focus on tint %.
