This is a follow-up thread to my original post about the CV 4S:

After 15 months and more than 20,000 miles, the CV 4S have proven to be a great set of All Weather tires for the R1S (2023 QM).

Tires are all approximately 6.0/32 remaining tread, at the current wear rate, expect possibly 33,000 total miles ($0.03 per mile). Compared to the 20” OEM Pirelli ($0.08 per mile), this is less than half the cost. The icing on the cake is that with these tires the handling and ride comfort is drastically improved making the R1S significantly more fun to drive. The improved drivability likely removes any potential efficiency gains, but overall efficiency is essentially unchanged from the OEM tires. Recent CV 4S example attached (2.28 MPK).

Unfortunately I didn’t get any snow and pretty limited rain performance, the few wet days they did perform very well staying extremely planted and never spinning (even when trying to get them to spin).

No off-road for these either, and I would not expect these to perform very well, but they likely could handle mild gravel/fire roads as long as there are no sharp rocks.

Overall, these tires are one of the best options to enhance the handling of the R1S. It will be difficult to try another tire since these were so good…

(Disclaimer: I didn’t receive anything for my review of the CV 4S, the tire was chosen based solely on its specifications and characteristics, at the time -May 2024- there were zero reviews since it was a brand new offering. AI platforms were not used to generate any material for this post).

What's up with the side wear?

If it weren't for @B Digs tire currently being the same price or less, this would've been my next tire!

If it weren't for @B Digs tire currently being the same price or less, this would've been my next tire!
since GY doesn’t provide a tread-wear warranty and CV 4S does (60k), seems like an easy choice…if not for that I might consider the GY…

Re: 22” tires, always recommend purchasing 20” Atomic Wheels and a suitable 20” tire (33” if trying to get good MPK)…over the long haul 20” is a much better option for the Rivian than the 22”…

Traded in for a Dual, so final miles on CV 4S were 22,500, with a bit of tread left on them…likely good for a total of 25-30k miles or so, the dual has the wranglers, will see how those are…

Quick update, wear rates for the CV 4S and GY Wranglers (OEM) are about the same, since the CV 4S starts with a little bit more tread depth it's going to get slightly more miles than the GY's. I think it's a pretty good tradeoff and makes a very strong case for getting the GY's instead of the CV 4S if you have a need for light offroading or just prefer the look of the GYs. I'd say the on road driving characteristics of the CV 4S are slightly better than the GYs, but they are two very different tires.
