Has anyone tried putting on a RTT on this? It looks like the load ratings can hold it, but curious about real-world application.

I procrastinated my install for a while but finally got it more or less finished. A couple of notes:

  • I ordered storage boxes for both sides. There were no instructions included for assembly of the storage boxes, but more importantly, there are also no mounting holes in the topper itself. I had to have someone hold the box firmly in place while I marked the mounting hole locations from the storage box onto the topper and then drill the holes in the topper myself.
  • When attaching the storage rails to the top of the topper, one of the welded threaded bolts sheared off under very minimal torque. I was using a standard sized (~6") socket wrench to tighten the nut and never even got to a point that I would have called snug when the threaded bolt completely sheared off. Definitely not confidence inspiring on those materials there, but the rest of the topper felt solid. I made sure to just barely tighten down the remaining nuts to avoid any further issues.
  • One of my side access door locks won't actually rotate into the locked position when the door is closed. It seems to be hitting something in the locking mechanism that I haven't fully figured out yet. It locks just fine if the latch is undone, so it's not an issue with the key or tumbler itself, but rather the mechanism that moves into place when locking.
  • Maybe obvious, but use gloves when applying the black RTV sealant. The included tube exploded out the back on me when applying it which was fun to deal with. I ended up purchasing a couple more tubes to finish the project out. Acetone was the best solution I found for removing any sealant from your skin, but it wasn't perfect.
  • The rubber sealing strip adhesive was about as adhesive as a sticky note. That is to say, even with clamping it down overnight to try and let it really stick, it fell off immediately upon flipping the topper over to put it on the truck.
  • Two strong people could probably get the topper onto the truck if needed. We had four adults and it was very easy to lift up into place.
Finally, I use my gear tunnel a lot and wasn't okay with the idea of having to use the screen or app to open the gear tunnel doors every time. I popped the plastic off the side rails of the truck bed to access the wires going to the gear tunnel buttons and spliced in one of these switches on either side. I then drilled a hole in the topper above where the OEM gear tunnel button is and installed the switches into the holes. It works like a charm, exactly as the OEM gear tunnel buttons do without disabling the OEM buttons either. I tried to find the exact 2 pin harness Rivian uses to have a bit cleaner of an install on the inside of things, but ultimately decided just to cut the wires, strip them, and use a couple 3-port WAGO lever connectors.

I have a temporary connection of the truck topper to the truck using cam straps right now, but plan to figure out a way to use the Mars Adapters similar to what @BigIslandBrah did.

Do you happen to have a quick rundown on where the wires are? Is it the panel in the bed or the ones on the rails? Trying to figure out if I can do this without removing the topper.

Definitely need to remove the topper. The wires come up directly underneath the gear tunnel door release buttons. Maybe there's a way you could remove all the bed panels and go in the side, but I think the wire comes up between body panels, so that might be a lot of work for no results.

Is there a new list for the next production run? Looks like I missed this one by a few months. Looks like an awesome setup!

Anyone have some good tips of sealing the topper to the bed rails? Had some rain recently and there was a bunch of water that came in even with the weatherstripping.

I applied a layer of silicone on the bolts and that worked for me. I found that by using a flash light at night helps me with locating where the leaks are coming from. Hope that helps.
