With all of the R2 prototypes being wrapped in Star Wars themed wraps, what better day than today to make a huge announcement (think R2 configurator with pricing). Or maybe introduce a Stormtrooper R2?

Probably don't want to fly too close to the sun. They'd end up like Motorola and the Droid phone. They ended up having to shell out a bunch of coin to Lucasfilm to license the name - after the phone was announced.

Also, right now Lucasfilm are starting off the big marketing push for the newest movie (Mando & Grogru), and the R2D2 color scheme(s) aren't really connected to that, so it could be a distraction.

Lucasfilm did dabble in a vehicle tie-in once with the Nissan Rogue, back in 2016 when "Rogue One" was coming out. Nothing anywhere near huge though - the vehicle didn't have any color or wraps to link things up like you would think they would....

Agree, I think a one-off "nod nod wink wink" homage to Star Wars is fine. No need to make it a "thing".
