You can remove the panels yourself and save the cost. But as everyone said you may eventually break them.
I’ve had a shop explicitly tell me that they would not remove it (for fear of breaking it) so plan on doing that yourself.
I just got a set of pucks. Easy for the shop to use them. Rivian...
I drove in the ice and snow a handful of times this winter in my R1T in MA, VT and NH. I’m on the 21” AS tires. In general I was happy with - no issues encountered. I thought it did as well or better than my prior vehicles (x5, q7, model 3, all on AS tires).
The brake regen on slippery surfaces...
I’m at 9k miles and they have significant wear. I expect that I’ll have to replace them before the winter by 15k miles.
The fronts had more wear originally even though I don’t drive a lot in conserve. Rotated at 7k miles.
I just picked up a new pair of skis - Nordica Enforcer 94, 186 length. These just barely fit in the bed on the diagonal. I test fit them before buying :)
This is about the longest you can fit in the bed with the two skis together without proping up one end. Maybe you can fit bit more if you...
Yes, the system only supports one EV make per account. You can create a new additional profile with National grid under a new email address, link it to the same elec account number, and then create a new charge smart account using that email address. It appears to be working for me, but I have...
That’s a different program. National grid in MA offers two programs: one where they stop charging when demand is high and a separate program that gives a discount for off-peak charging every weekday. You have to choose one of the two to participate in.
I’ve been doing the off-peak charging...
I think it’s a version of the creaking/tocking as everyone said. I had a minor tock sound for a while and then one day it sounded just like yours. A few days later it went back to a single tock when starting/stopping. Mobile service lubed and tightened the half shafts and it went away. Been a...
We’ve been all EV since May - R1T and a model 3. 99% of the time it’s better than having an ICE. But occasionally there’s a pain point.
The primary issue is road trips:
- There’s more planning involved. Depending on your personality that may or may not be an issue
- we tend to constrain...
I suspect that “accessory” is a misleading name and much of that power is related to charging the truck. I’ve seen high accessory power just when charging via 120V which it looks like you are doing.
Thanks all. I ended up ordering the pucks from www.jackpucks.com. I can’t speak to the quality of the pucks (haven’t received them yet) but Mark at jackpucks was super helpful and got them shipped out quickly. Thanks Mark!
I did the drive from central mass (just west of 495, south of 2) to N Conway in my R1T over the summer and will do it again on Friday.
You can make it there on one charge, but you use a lot of charge while there getting to the resorts, dinners, etc.
charging from a 110v is slow on the Rivian...
I’m pretty sure they are different than tesla jack pucks. The Tesla frame is exposed in that area so the pucks really just help with alignment. On the Rivian, the puck is used to get to the frame through the small opening in the trim pieces. They looks very different.
It’s time to get a tire rotation on my r1t. Have people just removed the trim panels over the Jack points or are you buying the Jack pucks?
I plan to take it to a local shop for the rotation. I don’t have a spare so I don’t have the plastic Jack puck.
Have people have any issues reinstalling the...
Sorry to hear about your accident but glad you’re ok.
This experience isn’t unique to Rivian though. I had an Audi q7 that was 3 years old and got rear ended at a stop light. Almost no visible damage besides a rip in the bumper. But there was damage to the aluminum structure underneath. There...
I have my mor-ev trucks check already.
It took a few weeks from submitting the docs to approval. Judging by this thread, the rate of R1T being delivered in MA has gone way up since I got mine. So I would bet mor-ev has a long backlog.
