  1. Heated steering wheel? How warm is it supposed to be?

I agree that it gets hot enough, but it doesn't stay hot long enough. After a few minutes of nice and toasty fingers it shuts off and cools back down to room temperature. And at that point there doesn't seem to be any way to turn it back on. The indicator shows on but it isn't. And powering...
  2. TOWING: Hitch Receiver? What are you using? RIVIAN has the hitch receiver sunk an extra 2" deep because of that stupid bumper....

You don't need something "better", but you might need something different. Rivian is pretty tall, depending on how small the small trailer is 4" might not be enough drop. You may need a 6" ot 8" drop. An adjustable hitch might be a better choice if you don't know how much drop you are going to...
  3. Software updates that should be here by now.

I think it is about time for them to give the Gen 1 vehicles all of the stuff they were advertising would be included back in 2020. 5 years seems long enough. Perhaps start with this one from 2019.
  4. 2025.46 Update Teased: Customizable Driver Display for Gen 1 and Gen 2

I get why you want this, but I also get why Rivian doesn't want to create it. Rivian needs EV ownership to look as simple as possible. Even though using a scheduled charging completion feature would be optional, the mere existence of it means that Rivian has to explain what it does and why you...
  5. Current state of Rivian AI (on a Gen1)

I don't think this is a random bug, my car did the same thing recently (virtually smashed by a semi).
  6. Rivian does not follow charging settings

Have you done a reboot? There seems to be no limit to the range of problems that are at least temporarily solved by rebooting.
  7. R3 pricing to be "noticeably lower" than R2 price - says RJ

My guess is that the R2 will cost as much as the R1 was originally advertised to be. And then every year the price will go up significantly. By the time R3 comes to market the R2 will be so much more expensive than it originally was that the R3 will launch at the same price as the R2 did. It...
  8. Discount Tire no longer raising all 4 tires due to safety concerns?

I was just in for my seasonal swap at a Discount Tire this week. They only jacked up one side at a time. They told me it was because they only had 2 pucks. This was my 5th time at this location they had 4 pucks every other time. I thought it was pretty odd that 2 of their pucks would have...
  9. HVB battery capacity - is there any way to determine its current capacity?

It is somewhat like the HP output of an ICE vehicle. It is advertised as one thing but the actual output varies with the weather/location and It inevitably goes down as the vehicle ages. And dispite this being a major selling point for a lot of people there is no practical way to know where you...
  10. HVB upgrade possible?

The battery is going to last 15+ years. At that point the suspension, paint, seats, everything is so worn out that the battery would have to be practically free to make it a good decision. How many people do you see putting brand new better than original motors in 15 year old cars? It will be...
  11. F150 Lightning Maybe Dead?

Everyone launched their electric pickups by advertising too good to be true prices. And then they all increased the price drastically when it came time to actually sell the vehicles. Tesla did it. Ford did it. Rivian did it. And then they act surprised when they aren't selling like hot...
  12. I aired down, and my efficiency went UP (in sand)

Does airing down reduce the effective tire diameter? If you reduce the tire diameter, you reduce the distance you travel each rotation. The car measures distances by counting tire rotations, so it assumes you are going further and faster than you actually are if your tire is smaller then it...
  13. Halloween drive mode (scary bug/mechanical failure)

Rivian did call me to come in ASAP. They reviewed the logs, tested the sensors, and inspected the tires. Their conclusion was that everything was fine and I just need to rotate my tires. It had only been 5K miles, but I guess that was too long. 🤷‍♂️
  14. What accessory did you buy… that wasn’t worth it?

Everything I have ever purchased from electruck4x4 was so bad I went back in time and stopped myself from making that mistake. ;-) Of course I am joking, but you are brave starting this thread. My entry is Jack pucks. They are a work of art, but it turns out that every tire shop I have...
  15. ? COMPASS YELLOW R1S Photos

This time of year it is like wearing camo.
  16. Gen 1 vs Gen 2 R1T Gear Tunnel Differences

You have the new roll up design with really skinny slats, or the updated stackable design that outwardly looks identical to the original cover. If it is the new roll up design that is really cool. I didn't know that anyone was getting that update, I thought all the Gen 1 people were getting...
  17. R1S nightmare and Lemon laws

I agree that Rivian's quality control is crap, but your build date complaint is really confusing me. The build date is displayed on the government mandated door sticker. This isn't something they try to hide or are allowed to hide. If this was something that you cared about it was absolutely...
  18. Halloween update yet yes or no?

I wish they would leave last year's Halloween special available (buried deep in the menus someplace) until it is replaced/updated with the new version. In addition to supporting people who want to have halloween themed car earlier in October, and avoiding complaints from people on the tail end...
  19. Halloween drive mode (scary bug/mechanical failure)

I did install this week's update, but it drove normally for a day or two before it went nuts. It even drove normally for the first 5 minutes of the scary drive. It certainly could be related to the update, but it's not as simple as the update immediately causing failure.
  20. Halloween drive mode (scary bug/mechanical failure)

Changing drive modes raised and lowered the vehicle as expected but did not stop the erratic behavior. In hindsight, I probably should have given eco mode a longer chance. I put it back in all purpose when it didn't immediately resolve the situation, but it it might the have been easier to...
