I added a second deep cycle lithium battery in the spare wheel area. Rivian replaced my 12v a few months ago proactively and never said anything, I always just leave the second battery connected.
I think this may be a good idea for anyone who is worried about the 12v battery.
It depends on your tires and the weight you are carrying. I have the 20” AT’s and often use sport mode with the soft suspension setting especially when I am by myself.
If I load up the family or have a really bumpy road I’ll adjust it to a medium suspension or raise it up /AP mode.
To me the R1S is an adventure vehicle you can take most anywhere. So even if I only off-road 5% of the time, I don’t want to be worried about a flat tire when I am 20 miles from the nearest paved road with my family.
As for looks, 20” AT all day, it’s how it is supposed to look.
As for the ride...
Well if you are happy with the system you have then no need to change it.
I had the regular stock system and the sound quality was so bad that I immediately had to replace it. A good system transforms the vehicle, night and day difference.
I have a full aftermarket sound system with 13 inch sub. After the update I immediately adjusted the bass on the EQ and on my bass wheel. Clarity sounds even better to me now but the bass was definitely turned down on the most recent update.
IMHO just need to update the full system, it’s my...
I went to do the same thing, ended up sending my kids away as jacking up the control arm isn’t that stable.
Also I found out Rivian stripped one of the original lug nuts on at the factory so I ended up driving to Rivian with missing lugs but luckily they replaced the rotor for me under...
I believe so but half the time I was there the gate was open.
If someone is going skiing it might be worth paying for parking.
For Big Bear you just need to charge at the bottom of the hill before getting there and you should be able to stay up there at least a week without charging. For...
Sounds like a glitch with the Apple Music which will probably be fixed in a month.
As for the audio quality, when I picked up my Gen 2 almost a year ago I immediately knew there was no fixing the audio quality and had the whole system replaced. A good sound system completely transforms the car...
I purchased a Large+ at the end of August last year. I was really happy when I got it because it was actually letting me use the whole max pack for about a month. I would drive for well over an hour at 100% charge. Unfortunately they fixed that bug.
There are a few advantages: you can leave...
I have a Gen2 and the worst drain I have seen was up in the mountains with temperatures around 0-10 degrees, I was losing 7% a day with no driving. I believe this has improved with updates but I haven’t seen the temperature that low again to test it.
Other than that which was right after the...
If Rivian gave 665hp in AP mode there would be less reason to upgrade. While Tri and Quad motor versions are amazing the Dual Motor Performance is hard to beat as best combo for the money / power and efficiency.
Yeah, very happy with it. As far as updates I haven’t noticed anything. The original amps and head unit are all the same, the stock amp is now just used as a low level line out.
I suppose worst case if Rivian made a change I didn’t like to the settings I could have it re-tuned.
3 Way Focals Front / Rear, JL DSP AMP VX 600/6, JL SUB AMP VX 1000/1 with a 13” JL shallow mount sub along with an extra battery.
Everything is wired into the stock head unit. Nothing is noticeable as it’s all mounted in the spare tire area.
You can modify to your liking but it really...
Let’s put it this way, if you care about the audio at all you’re going to need to go aftermarket.
I switched from a Plaid model S and it doesn’t compare (I have a gen 2), I have also heard the Meridian system which would probably be acceptable to a lot of people but the gen 2 stereo is...
The self driving is getting better but with Rivian you do have to be careful and pay attention.
Coming from Tesla FSD I really trusted self driving. My first week in the Rivian and the self driving just disconnected on a turn in the freeway, luckily I caught the wheel as I started to fly...
