I looked for a used tire & wheel, but couldn't find anything cheaper. Didn't look long and hard, but for a bit over $400, this solution got me where I wanted.
The cost was part of the decision, but mostly I knew from my previous slacker experience that I will never actually do a 5 tire rotation regimen, and quite honestly, I'm tired of lying to myself!! ;)
I had one of these "origami" spares in my VW Touareg, and it worked great the one time I...
I've never understood why an $85K vehicle comes with no spare tire, and I knew I needed to have something for an emergency. My original plan was to use my Rivian store credits toward a spare, but I was told that "installing" a spare tire required a service appointment. I was also told that the...
Not sure how well polyurehane will stick to pressure treated plywood! Hopefully I won't need this very long, then I'll use the wood for another project.
Just installed my Gen-You-Ine DIY $50 plywood tonneau cover! Looks like it's gonna work Xtra Good!!
While waiting on delivery of the topper for Vivian The Rivian, I need to cover the bed to keep out (most of) the weather for an upcoming trip. Didn't want to spend big bucks for a tonneau that...
Hey Folks!
Has anyone else encountered an issue with their Camp Speaker abducting the bluetooth signal from their phone? Several times I have been working in the yard and listening to music on my phone via ear buds, when the music stops. Looking at my phone, I'll see the Camp Speaker has taken...
How does that provide 240v?
EDIT - Looking at the Amazon item, it only provides 120V power, but apparently the plug allows the EV to draw more current than if using a standard 120V receptacle.
The mast is a cell booster (Weboost). It adds about 2 bars to our signal.
We were at several campgrounds near the Chesapeake Bay in Va. (Cross Rip, Newport News, Thousand Trails, and Kikopeake.
Hey Folks!
We just got back from a 3 week camping trip using our new R1T towing our 23' Airstream trailer, and I had a few first impressions to share for anyone interested.
Note that we began this trip less than a week after getting the new truck, so there were many things that I had to figure...
FINALLY FOUND IT! Under the Camp Modes, there is an option to put the truck to sleep (warns you that it will take more time to wake up and go). This is what I was looking for!
Thanks everyone for the input!!
As smart as everything is, it really seems like it would be very easy to program a true low-energy mode that the user could activate. Maybe the startup time would be excessive when coming out of such a deep sleep?
Thanks! We're used to having an "off" switch with our Prologue, and it just seems wrong to not turn off the vehicle. I'm sure we will get used to it (like one pedal driving) and it will become the new normal!
Hey folks! Just took delivery of my R1T yesterday, and I can't figure out how to turn off the truck if I just want to sit in (or near!) it, but not have it using energy.
Thanks!

I am taking delivery of my R1T Max Pack pickup later this month, and will be using it to tow my camper (2011 Airstream 23' FB) the following week.
I am currently towing with an SUV (Diesel VW Touareg), so I'll need to adjust the load distributing/sway control hitch for the height of the truck...
Thanks all!
I test drove a new Silverado EV on the same day I tried out the Rivian. It drove very well, but decided against it for a few reasons.
1. It is too big to fit in the parking space behind our house
2. Updates only available by visiting dealer service
3. Some of the cool self...
Hi All!
After many, many years following Rivian (including a pre-order that I ended up cancelling), it looks like I am finally in a position to afford a Rivian!
In November I leased a Honda Prologue EV and that has strengthened my resolve to go all EV, but it isn't a vehicle I can use to tow my...
