Sometimes RJ pops up in some of the most random channels. Nice of RJ to give time to even a small channel. It's a relatively short interview, with a lot of after thoughts from the hosts, mostly going over Rivian's financial strategy.
Miss GoElectric has the eagle eye! What a great analysis on even the smallest of details.
My takeaway from this Ford presentation is that Rivian is on the right track, and made the right calls years ago. A lot of what said sounded a lot like what Rivian went through for Gen 2. This makes me...
I think the EDV should upgrade to have the whole autonomy suite including LiDAR on them and be a major "ground truth" fleet. I don't have any numbers, but I'm pretty sure a single EDV will drive way more routes and see way more edge cases than any of us drivers will experience in our lifetime...
Not quite the full V2H feature, but going to link my experience using only the outlets: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/hurricane-beryl-report-out-rivian-for-home-power-backup-was-a-game-changer.30402/
Other have shared thoughts in that thread as well.
Thanks @Trinculo73 and @scottf200 , edited the first post.
I continually hear how the 2nd row in R2 is much more comfortable, even compared to R1 vehicles. Unfortunately I never been in the passenger seats on any of the competitor models either, so hard to have a reference point.
Credit goes to https://insideevs.com/reviews/786814/rivian-r2-prototype-first-drive/ and the gallery images. Hidden in the reel is a picture of the R2 silhouette against several other models.
Here are the models I could make out below. Maybe some of you with more knowledge can help identify...
I feel like we need to talk about this more. RJ spent time specifically this call this feature out in the 2024 presentation, and unlike some of the other cool things these haptic scroll wheels actually stayed.
Changing the fan speed and temperature from the wheel without having to look away is...
Don't want to be that guy, but here's the time stamp link: in case someone doesn't want to listen in the whole podcast for this specific topic.
Good podcast though, definitely recommend a full watch.
Gonna repeat some others but I'll throw in my wish list as well:
LiDAR, a next-generation RAP chip, the full suite of autonomy capabilities
Return of Gen 1 frunk design
NACS charger
Next-generation in-house motor, in quad configuration of course
Some integrated running boards or retracting...
Good interview, I think Jeff is now the third guest from Rivian on this podcast?
I'm curious to hear everyone's reaction on Jeff's take with the electronic door handles. One thing is very clear and that is the design team does think about these details.
Beside that, what a fascinating journey...
I'm a simple person. I see an RJ interview post, I watch.
Always good to hear him talk. He's very consistent in his answers, often to the very same questions.
I thought RJ makes a fantastic point about traditional automakers failing to adapt could potentially lead to taking a revenue hit, and...
I'm with you. I'd pay good money to get my hand on some of the mood boards used by the design studio and on display at the showroom so I can pass it on to an interior designer. I want my house looking and feeling like a Rivian interior.
Screenshots for reference:
R1, R2, and R3 dash designs
New stalk design?
On Cloud inspired interior?
Accessories: The Water Module, the Cooler Module, Induction Cooktop
Always love a good RJ Interview.
My personal highlights:
The context behind Gen 1 being dropped
A good comparison why "rules based" wasn't going to work, using Alexa as an example
The LIDAR can see 900 feet
Very optimistic about autonomy
More maps?!?
Good video to distill that one hour presentation + real life demos into something more digestible and shareable.
On the "ground truth" topic, makes me wonder if the Amazon EDVs will get upgraded with LIDAR. I always thought from the onset of the Rivian-Amazon partnership that it be incredibly...
This is me. I also like the Gen 1 front trunk better, and the storage well in the rear of the R1S better too.
The people I think would be upset the most are the people who missed the full tax credit, paid the increase in price relative to the configuration, and delivered right before Gen 2. My...
Finally got around to watching it, a good technical overview of what was going behind the curtains. Won't repeat what most people have said already, but there were two subtle details that caught my attention that I did not see mentioned else where:
RJ mentions the autonomy to "pursue...
