It's "perceived value" Rivian should never have announced the lidar and the Gen 3 hardware. I get it. They wanted to have a stock bump, but they could have just announced the autonomy and then got a future bump when they were ready to release the hardware. It's a bit of an "Osborne effect" it's...
Most people are caught up in the FSD-hype and the tech completely ignoring the regulatory (state and federal) part, let alone will the automaker take full lability when once L4 is legal
Yeah the 20's for the performance edition are nice, They look like the 20's on R1. The R2 21's look close to R1's 22" design. The 20's "bicolor" for the premium and standard remind me of something on a Kia or Hyundai EV with those bright squares on them.
The 21's look the best IMHO. The biggest reason i went with the 22's on my R1S vs the 21's which where standard at the time was the lack of replacement options for a 21 inch tire. May this thinner 21's on the R2 will have more options, but something to consider.
KitchenAid is owned by Whirlpool whose CEO was very vocal in the support of this administration, Not to the point of Zuck, and Musk, who use their social media platforms as social engineering but still supported. Dyson Corp donates to democratic candidates.
I can sperate the product from the...
Beside what Rivian (or tesla for that matter) can deliver for true L4 autonomy (eyes off), where at that point the car manufacturer needs to take liability, regulations will trail way behind development, getting this allowed in all states and all roads. Supervised FSD, or any ADAS where the...
Software wise, Infotainment and App , I would say Rivian is pretty close currently. And it's always getting better.
As far as LiDAR is concerned, I doubt you will be any real value in that for the first 3+ years. But since you buy cars and drive them for a long time, Waiting for Lidar is the...
Here's my forest green with the 22s which I think the R2 21s look like an updated version of. The big reason I didn't go with the 21 inch that was the standard wheel on R1 at the time was there was no aftermarket tires of that size.
My warranty is good until May 2028 for comprehensive and 2032 for battery and motors. I'm only at 2 years/20k miles currently. So waiting for Gen 3 is likely what I'll do at minimum.
These are the wheels to get, but that size 21 tire might not have a lot of aftermarket options. Are those 255/55/21 ?
Sucks they still went Pirelli as the OEM tires.
A Standard or Standard+ Gen 1 is the NMC Large pack, Gen 1 didn't have LFP, The only difference is it's software locked at 121kWh usable. (standard was locked at 106 kwh). Standard+ was required if I wanted to add the performance pack.
Efficiency is slightly important since my electric rates in NH are horrible, and I don't need big range for typical use. I'm fine with a couple extra charging stops, for the one one road trip I probably do every year.
I'm my mind, I'm going to let this R1 at least until the warranty expires which is in 2028 for comprehensive and 2032 for battery and motors.
Tossed this out as a discussion as I do like the R2... And I feel like I'm playing with house money a little bit.
First world problems
I doubt it, but we'll see. With full focus on R2 ramp, GA opening and rolling out R3. I think R1 might be left behind for a while. But time will tell.
As a Rivian fan...It Would be great if Rivian made a new R1 standard, that had the cost savings from R2 (suspension etc...) in a 3 row
I’m currently in a bit of a "good problem to have" situation. I own a 2024 Rivian R1S that I purchased NEW for an effective price of ~$65K. This was possible by stacking a preorder voucher (MSRP was $92,397, paid $73,547) with a successful amendment of my 2022 taxes for the $7,500 federal tax...
I just did this as well on my Comma 4 + Lukas Harnesses, we'll see if I notice any difference.
I didn't back-up my sunnypilot / Sunnylink settings so I had to go through and reenable /disable things. I think I have it back to what i previously had. Haven't driven much yet with this new...
