I am on day 7 of my rental, at $71/day Rivian has spent almost $500 just for the Rental. The tow truck ended up coming from a city an hour away, so most likely they paid at least $1000 to tow my R1S to the service center. So thats in $1500 so far. There are 2 techs now diagnosing my R1S, and it...
Welp, looks like for my R1S the dead 12v might be a symptom, not the cause of an issue. They suspect its the HV battery thats the issue and that it might need to be replaced. Counting down the days now to lemon law it.
Same thing happened to my Gen 2 R1S last week. There is a pull cord in the driver's side front wheel well. You just need to unscrew 3 screws. I was able to pop the frunk and attach a battery charger. This was enough to get the screens booted and into tow mode. Tow truck pulled me out while I...
This is now day 3 of the Rivian Service Center working on my R1S. The tech started mid-day Friday. I imagine they bumped someone else since my R1S just decided to die. The longer it takes the tech to figure out the issue, the more backed up they are going to be. Realistically Rivian needs 3 more...
A few months ago I would have agreed with you, but I don't know anymore. All the issues with the Foundation builds have likely steered people away. Also Ford and Chevy/GMC are really trying to sell their EV trucks.
My R1S is still in the shop, and they are still diagnosing what happened. It looks like the 12v was replaced because its in Service Mode, but there might be other issues. Maybe my car has some kind of new Gen 2 hardware issue that caused the 12v to die. I will say Eastvale service center has...
My Gen 1 R1T had this issue. Teslas and Ford Lightning did not. My Gen 2 R1S seems to be able to reconnect, but not every time I come home. My guess is Rivian cheaped out on the wifi.
Off to the service center it goes. Battery completely drained overnight again, so had to pop the frunk again with the cable in the wheel well and give it a small charge in order for the screen to come on so I could put it in tow mode. Took about 30 minutes to get it out of the garage due to how...
For my case charging the 12v did not work, it will not hold a charge for very long. They were able to pull logs though and said HV battery went into safe mode. Originally was going to get mobile service to come out and swap it out, but now they are going to have to tow it. Not sure how they are...
Was able to use the pull cord by the driver's side wheel to manually open the frunk. It appears the battery is not located in the same place as gen 1. So doesn't look like it'll be easy to swap out if I wanted to. There is a positive terminal. So I connected the charger to it and the black...
I ordered this from Amazon and it just got delivered: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QPSNZPP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
Its working on reconditioning the battery right now, the lights are blinking and I was able to open the passenger door. Still can't get the frunk or charge port...
Happened to me. Barely 1 month old gen 2 r1s and car was completely dead this morning. Daughter has to miss school and I had to reschedule my son's doctor appointment.
I'm the 3rd Limestone R1S at my daughter's school. First 2 are Gen 1 though. Still wondering if I should just have held out for a Storm Blue tri-motor. Maybe in 3 years :)
