Saw this R2 yesterday walking my dog in Newport Beach. Parked in a residential area. Nice looking ride! Note handsome wire haired pointing Griffon, Lola
I agree, hopefully the cords get longer and the other chargers (RAN, EA, Etc.) continue to expand. When the EA chargers are available, they have the 350kw system. Elon hasnāt shown much interest in the charging system, itās probably too far from Mars.
I have a 2024 q8 Etron, and even using 2 slots it can be very difficult to get the charger cord to its port. For my run from SoCal to NoCal (425 miles) there are very few V4ās available. I donāt care about European curb charging. The R2 and the Volvo ex60 both are driverās rear side ports, and...
Even in Cali, I lean toward the 400mi mark. 90%+ for me is home charging with solar. But, for a road trip to NoCal, which we do at least 5x/yr, having to stop only once for charging is a real bonus. And, having the port at the driverās rear makes Tesla Supercharger access easy as well. Both the...
Look at Swap a Lease. I sold my Equinox EV lease there. There are some short term leases, mine had 11 months on it. I purchased an Audi Q8 Etron, and was able to move the Equinox in a deal that benefited both parties. My lease was prepaid, and way cheaper due to ITC, Costco, etc. Those are now...
Allegedly late summer arrival. I have an Audi Q8 Etron with 22k miles that is warrantied until 1/28, so Iām thinking if I went with the Volvo Iād do what I did with the Audi and let someone else take the first depreciation hit. 2 years in, the $80k Audis are sub $40k.
No off road chops, but the Volvo ex60 is purported to have speed (more in the 4.4 0-60 rangeāplenty fast) better range (400 miles) and the obligatory tech. The R2 most def has more panache, Iāll be cross shopping the Volvo for its dealership system and range, thinking Iāll end up with the R2...
It has 2 hots and a ground. I canāt replace the outlet only. I would need to run a neutral from the box to the receptical, and the EMT isnāt big enough for that.
Since weāre on the subject, a question for the electrical guys. My older Seimans ESVE uses the NEMA 6-50 plug/receptical. It will eventually die, and the replacement will be a 14-50 unit. There are 14-50p to 6-50r adapters. Anyone use them? My breaker is 40A, so Iām getting 32A which is enough...
Those charging EVs with charge ports not conveniently located for the Tesla chargers (like my Q8 Etron, awaiting an R2) appreciate the RAN, EV America, etc. superchargers. The L front port location makes the Tesla superchargers difficult, and usually, but not always, means taking 2 spaces. 90%+...
Same with me, driving solo I donāt care, but with my wife itās another issue. However, with 80-90% local driving, and a 400 mile range, with BMW handling and performance, Iām still going to consider it. Hopefully a lightly used somewhat depreciated one.
The charge port is passenger rear. That will make Tesla chargers difficult? I know there are good alternatives, but some areas I travel make using the Tesla system convenient. R2 is driver rear, I believe.
The SUV is pushing 210ā, too big for my tastes. As ranges approach 400 miles, for me an ICE backup is unnecessary. R2, Q6, ix3, and Volvo ex 60 (stated 400 miles) are perfect. We have a RAV4 prime when needed.
