28k miles -- no PPF -- still looks pretty good to me (aside from the damage that can be attributed to my wife's driving "skills"). Certainly better paint quality than any of the Teslas I ever had (though I suppose that's not saying much).
I was always a skeptic on 4/rear wheel steering until I got it on my RS6. It's really something -- makes a long vehicle much more maneuverable and really shrinks how the car feels when you're hustling on hill/canyon twisty roads.
Had ours replaced recently -- also had the loud "pop" sound when opening the hatch when it was warm/hot. Mentioned both at service, they replaced the weatherstripping and said they adjusted the hatch.
Unfortunately the "pop" sound is back, but at least the weatherstripping is still in place.
Took it in a couple times for this vibration. On the first go they road-force balanced the tires, and it helped, but it never went away and seemed to get worse again. On the second go they finally installed the heavier/weighted steering wheel. That cured most of the vibration, though it's...
Oh, and FYI -- the part number for the front half-shafts that were installed is as follows:
HALFSHAFT - FRT, R1 ENDURO Part# PT00087074-E
I googled it and hadn't seen -E posted anywhere, so maybe a new revision?
They just brought the car back home this morning. So far as I can tell the noise is gone again. We'll see how long it lasts.
They also needed to replace a jounce line in the rear (one which has previously been replaced) but they didn't have parts, so they'll pick it up in a week or two to...
Dual Motor R1S here -- had the knocking/clacking axle sounds when moving from a stop or coming to a stop. At a previous SC visit they installed ting washers, which addressed the noise for approximately ~5 months. Noise returned, so on this SC visit (car is currently there now) I had them take...
I printed one of these a while back and just used it this morning and it worked perfectly. Well worth not having to strain and cuss to release that thing by hand.
Yeah, I took delivery of one of the first batch of dual motor R1Ses when they first came out (no preorder, just got a call that they had some unallocated and if I could buy it in like 2 days it was mine) and my buddy (who bought one 1-2 months thereafter) and I talk about how mine was configured...
Well, unfortunately with relatively cooler air and prolonged rainy/misty days this issue has reappeared for me.
Some observations from my experience:
If the ambient temp is lower than what the climate control temp is set at, and the vehicle is pumping "heat" into the cabin, it almost seems...
I had this happen once on a road trip under very specific conditions -- something like incredibly high humidity, low air temp (40s IIRC), and it was especially an issue if the car was preconditioning for a DC Fast Charger. I assumed that the temp and humidity combination + the preconditioning...
Honestly, never touched it since it was installed. Looked like it would get the job done in case of a flat tire on a road trip, which is all I ever plan on using it for. I've got floor jacks and stands otherwise.
I looked into this a while back (before I got my compact spare kit) but couldn't find any solutions.
One thing I will say is that it might be worth reaching out to the service center -- I've heard they sometimes have them in stock locally even though the website product listing might show...
IMO, the cost difference between regular spin balancing and road force balancing is minimal. It's more irritating to me to spend the time to have to go back and rebalance if there's an issue, so I've just always had road force balancing done on all my cars' tires for probably the last 10 years...
Yeah, I used a 891LM remote with the 850LM receiver on a gate with the Rivian with success.
I will also note that even using Liftmaster-branded "universal" remotes with both the 850LM and a Liftmaster gate opener resulted in no success with the Rivian. I had to get the specific liftmaster...
Yeah, we still get the prompt at home, but also seem to get the prompt every time we slow to a stop right now. Seems to have manifested with the last firmware update. Hoping the next one takes care of it.
Had PDM R1S for a little over 3 months. Mechanically-speaking, the major issue we encountered was leaking from the hydraulic lines connected to the rear driver-side suspension.
Rivian had it for about 6 days -- they replaced the lines and we're back on the road again.
So, could one, in theory, use this harness you linked to connect to the OEM (Rivian) connector going to the OEM horn, then use one side of the split to connect back to the OEM horn, then use the other side of the split for an aftermarket horn (likely needing to cut the connector off and adapting...
