  4. Rivian confirms POWERED tailgate has now been KILLED

Starting to get worried a bit. Hopefully they haven’t dropped their commitment to flat tow as I’ll have to drop out for sure.
  5. Flat towing a Rivian

FYI: Episode 5 of “The Long Way Up” shows R1T VIN#1 with depleted battery in South America being towed by a semi-truck to regen. It took a fairly short amount of time give it enough power.
  6. Flat towing a Rivian

Apologize for my fat fingers and bad eyesight! Really destroyed your name! I think several members of this group have different views on regen beyond just braking. Like I said previously, I just want the ability to configure it to off when it’s a Toad. But frankly, I don’t buy that regen...
  7. Flat towing a Rivian

Hi Crappy Jax, Unfortunately nothing’s free. Low friction rolling is best. It’s a bit like when I’m walking my dog versus dragging her. To be clear, I’m not against it for those that see the benefits as long as I can disable it if I want. As far as the wear and tear, my current solution...
  8. Flat towing a Rivian

Totally agree with your first point. If I can’t tow it, I can’t buy it. Not only must it be able to be flat towed, it must be able to inter operate with my current RV stowing systems. Besides considering normal braking, support for emergency braking in the case of break-away is also needed...
  9. Camping With Your Rivian: Leveraging Forum Wisdom

I’ll bet that the Tesla data doesn’t include flat towing capability like the R1T offers! In my case, that’s a killer feature as I can tow the R1T behind my “house”!
  10. Camping With Your Rivian: Leveraging Forum Wisdom

As full-time RVrs, we use our Class A RV as home and flat-tow our R1T behind. When we bought our 2020 Newmar, we configured it with a 30 amp outlet for charging when we’re boon docking or dry camping. We can power the outlet via our site hookup, 12KV generator, or inverters Linked to 16...
  11. R1S flat towing behind an RV?

Most likely they’re working with other manufacturers to realize interoperability between the two vehicles. Including diesel and hydraulic brake systems. I’m waiting to replace my red RAM Longhorn with a red (hopefully) R1T!
  12. Rivian Battery Poll - VOTE HERE

I need the miles! I always get the biggest fuel tank when its an option as I love to travel a lot.
  13. R1S flat towing behind an RV?

Might be a workable configuration when the breakaway requirement is also met. However from a practical perspective, I want to be up and running the day I pick up the R1T. Waiting for some other manufacturer to build the latest and greatest solution for the only EV that currently can be...
  14. R1S flat towing behind an RV?

Ayuh. I’ve been using this system for years and have been very satisfied, especially when Spartan added it to their chassis. It also provides the required breakaway system as well as an optional wireless receiver to let me know that the TOAD breaks are actually being applied. I’m hopeful that...

  16. R1S flat towing behind an RV?

CORRECT. I intend to drive my 45 foot RV with the R1T connected behind it (My Toad).
  17. R1S flat towing behind an RV?

Brake controllers are ok when I pull a trailer but I want better control with a TOAD. Air Force One type systems connect to my RV air brake system and provides proportional braking. After 40 some years of RV experience using various types of braking systems, this has given me the best...
  18. R1S flat towing behind an RV?

Actually, I prefer braking via Air Force One system to maintain braking capability under all conditions as well as less potential enforcement problems. My comment basically meant to say that charging is a nice idea as long as I am able to disable it. I need compatible braking much more than I...
