  1. Powered Tonneau Cover Version 2 - Rivian Nailed the Details!

When the truck was in the sun, the slats would heat up, expand, and jam the mechanism. The motor was very tired sounding.
  2. Powered Tonneau Cover Version 2 - Rivian Nailed the Details!

My V1 tonneau was replaced with a V2 free under warranty last week. Early-ish S/N 10xxx. You shouldn't have needed to pay for a replacement...
  3. Rainy R1T in Austin

Gratuitous wet truck photo. It's usually covered in mud.
  4. Emergency generator

Solar generators weigh multiple orders of magnitude more than a gas generator for a tiny fraction of the power capacity, are very expensive, and represent a huge static weight penalty. An empty battery weighs the same as a full battery, while an empty gas/propane tank, well, doesn't. 500w of...
  5. Emergency generator

I recommend the GenMax units, they're internally grounded and dual-fuel (run it on propane). Yes, it'll take ten hours to put any reasonable amount of range in, but it's far more practical to carry one of these guys than, say, solar panels or a gigantic spare battery if you're truly boondocking.
  6. Anyone Tip Mobile Service Techs?

Tipping is such an obscene American culture. If Rivian can't afford to pay it's techs a living wage, they deserve to go out of business. Same with service workers. If you can't pay your staff a living wage, your business is unsustainable. Wage slavery should be met with zero tolerance. Don't...
  7. RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

The Austin site is certainly not open. There has not been any ground work laid, nor is there any signage or equipment on site. It's just a parking lot at a dead mall for now @DaveA. Source: I just drove out to take a look before breakfast this morning.
  8. How are you cleaning the black body cladding?

Beware alcohol on plastic trim. It can cause molecular deterioration and might look good at first, but can lead to UV penetration and cracking.
  9. Rooftop Tents blocking brake lights (CHMSL)

Good call out. The 12v gear tunnel outlet is switched.
  10. Rooftop Tents blocking brake lights (CHMSL)

I'm just using the Tekonsha at the moment, the 2/3 is on my countertop. My brake light flashes with either the left or right turn signal, but goes solid with the brakes applied.
  11. Rooftop Tents blocking brake lights (CHMSL)

Are you only using the 2/3 converter, or the Tekonsha in between?
  12. R1T Bed Rack: Sierra Rack System

Long story short: SEVERE. There's no getting around aerodynamics. She's a harsh mistress. Expect to cut your range by 30%, roughly.
  13. Rooftop Tents blocking brake lights (CHMSL)

Yup, that's what I'm doing. Round about, but confirmed working.
  14. Rooftop Tents blocking brake lights (CHMSL)

I think the black wire is ground, and the two small wires are CANbus. The controller is built into the taillight assembly. Did you tap the black wire while it was connected to the light, or just run the tester on the connector? I suspect you'd see voltage on the ground (black) when power is...
  15. Ad-hoc Light Bar

Looks a little too G-wagon-ey for my taste. I like the pod style because they have more character than a light bar, draw less energy and are easy (and cheap) to replace. Also, $900 is more than 4x what this rig cost! But if that's what your going for, I hope this thread helps!
  16. Ad-hoc Light Bar

Quick note, if you break a retainer clip/plug while pulling plastic, Toyota style replacements appear to work perfectly.
  17. JJ’s Overland R1T Build V2 w/ Pop Top Camper Shell (Oru Designs)

We've got to be getting close to a Rivian Forums Upfitter Guide at this point.
  18. Ad-hoc Light Bar

The wiring harness is still there, FYI. There's another thread on here describing it.
